Virgil's P.O.V

"Did you see or hear anything last night?" Logan asks as we exit the tent.

"Nothing," Roman responds.

"That's good," I say. Logan and I walk off to the trees to brush our teeth.

"Can you put this in my backpack? I need to use the bathroom," I say when we're done.

He nods and takes my stuff. I walk into the trees. When I get back Patton is up and by the tree line, brushing his teeth.

"Morning Patton," I say. He finishes up before responding.

"Morning Virgil. Did you sleep okay?" he asks.

"Yeah. I slept alright. You?" I ask in return and he nods.

Not the truth but I don't want to worry him. Especially after last night. We walk over to our boyfriends who are talking to each other.

"Hey baby," Roman says when I wrap him in a hug.

"I don't think I'll get used to sleeping alone again. Even if I have to when you are on watch," I tell him.

"Same. It's weird without you next to me," he says. I smile happily at that.

"Kiss me," I tell him as I pull back. He smiles and leans down to kiss me softly. We pull apart and I pull him with me behind the Hummer.

I lean my back against it. Then I pull him closer and down so I can kiss him again.

"I. Love. You. So much," I tell him between kisses. He pulls back and looks me in the eye. When I try to look away he grabs my chin.

"What's wrong?" he asks softly. Of course he noticed.

"I had a nightmare," I tell him with a sigh. "How'd you know?" I ask.

"You're being real loving. Not that I would ever complain about that. However, you're holding on and kissing me as if you're afraid I'm going to disappear," he tells me.

"That's because you did. In my dream I mean. You died and I was all alone," I softly explain.

"I'm not going anywhere," he tells me.

"You can't be sure of that. One day one of us is going to lose the other. In today's day and age that could just as easily be today," I tell him. He sighs.

"Even if I'm gone I will still be with you. Forever. In this life and every life after. Never doubt that," he says, still looking me in the eye.

I close my eyes and lay my head on his chest to hear his heartbeat.

"Promise me something," I say softly.

"What?" he asks.

"You can't die before me. Promise me," I respond.

"That's a little unfair don't you think? Plus a little... unrealistic..?" he softly asks.

"Yes but I still want you to promise me. I don't think I can live without you. I wouldn't want to. I need you to be there with me when I go to remind me that I won't be alone and that we'll see each other again... I know it's not fair but... I need you to promise... Please..." I tell him.

I know I'm being unreasonable, I know but I'm scared. Partly because of my dream. That's not the only reason though. He could easily die and it would break me. I wouldn't go on. Even if I had my friends and family I wouldn't want to be alive anymore. I feel him take a deep breath.

"Alright. I'll promise to try on one condition," he says. I pull back to look at him.

"You have to promise that you won't die any time soon. Whatever it takes. Stay alive for me," he explains.
