Roman's P.O.V

"You didn't seem like you believed him when he tried to put the blame on Virgil. Why is that?" Logan asks.

"I don't like speaking behind people's backs but ever since we met him we've noticed that he likes to lie. Quite a bit. Usually they're harmless but he has once or twice gotten everyone riled up by saying he saw an infected without actually seeing one," Courtney explains.

"What did you do before all this?" Patton asks in an attempt to change the subject.

"I was a teacher," she says with a smile.

"How about you boys?" she asks.

"We were taking some time off before heading off for college," Patton says.

"Where were you planning on going?" she asks. She and Patton continue to talk. Logan listens intently but my gaze wanders over to my boyfriend and little Ally. They seem to be deeply into their game. I can tell by his face that Virgil is making the voices and playing along with whatever Ally is saying.

After a few minutes I tear my gaze away from Virgil to look at the people learning how to shoot. That's when I notice Janus looking at Virgil with a weird expression. He looks ashamed but also sad. When he notices me looking he turns back to focus on what Aiden is saying. I frown slightly at him but push my anger down. If he is ashamed then that's a good thing. It means he won't try it again. That doesn't mean I'll forgive him though. I don't know if I ever will. He almost hurt someone I love. Not to mention what happened at the gas station thanks to him.

I look at Virgil again and my face softens. I want to spend the rest of my life with him. Hopefully one day, all this will be over. That way we can eventually get married and live the rest of our lives without having to worry about getting killed by the walking dead. I stand up and walk over to Virgil and Ally.

"Hey baby," I say, sitting next to Virgil and kissing his temple.

"Hey," he says softly.

"Are you his wife?" Ally asks Virgil while gesturing to me. I smile at that.

"No. He's my boyfriend. His name is Roman," Virgil says.

"Oh. What's a boyfriend?" she asks.

"Umm. It's a boy that you really like," Virgil says.

"Like my daddy?" she asks.

"No. It's a boy who's not your family. You're too young for a boyfriend though. Or girlfriend," I tell her.

"Okay. Do you have kids?" she asks us.

"Not yet," Virgil says before I get the chance to respond. I quickly look at him and watch his face turn red as he blushes. "I-I.." he starts but shuts his mouth.

"We'll talk about this later," I say to him. He nods before going back to playing the game with Ally.

"Ally," Courtney calls, "It's time for dinner." I look up and realize it's getting late. Ally stands up and Virgil hands her the doll he was playing with.

"Bye Virgil. Bye Roman," Ally tells us.

"Bye Ally," we say at the same time. When she's gone we stand up and follow our friends inside. We all settle around the table to eat dinner with our parents.

"I'll keep watch tonight," Patton says to us when we're finished eating. Everyone nods and we each head to our rooms. Virgil pulls off his shoes and sets his pistol onto the nightstand. I set my shotgun by the bed.

"So," I say as we climb into bed.

"So what?" he asks.

"Not yet?" I ask, repeating his words from earlier. It's dark but I can see him thanks to the moonlight shining through the window. He sighs as he hides under the covers.
