Virgil's P.O.V"I suppose it's good that Ally has no weapon," I say, gesturing to the young girl and challenging her to call us children again. She watches me for a moment with a frown before turning to my father.
"I trust your children will give up their weapons to capable adults. We're only trying to make sure this place continues to stay safe. We need capable adults for that," she says with a smile.
"I agree that this place needs to remain safe. So these young adults will gladly help out on patrol. My son in particular and his friends happen to be impeccable shots," my father responds. Sally looks taken aback for a moment before giving a forced smile.
"Well then I hope to see that for myself," she says and turns while signaling for us to follow her. My dad and I share a look but neither of us say anything.
We follow Sally down the main road. There are buildings on both sides. As we reach what I assume is the center of the downtown area we start to see people scattered about.
"How many people do you have here?" my father asks.
"About thirty now that you're here," Sally responds.
"That's quite a bit of people. Are they all residents of Ladskey?" Logan asks.
"Yes. We just recently started putting out on the radio that it was safe here," she explains.
"You're in luck, we have a building big enough to house you all. There is another much smaller group there as well. It's right here. We'll provide as many blankets as we can. Just visit the storehouse. You can settle in later. Let me continue showing you around," she says, pointing to a restaurant with an upstairs.
"Thank you and we'd appreciate it," my dad says.
She leads us further and points out where things are. Finally we stop at what used to be a small antique store but has been cleared out and now looks like it stores food, water as well as other stuff.
"That's everything. Now, we ask that if you have any food that you put it here in the storehouse. That way we can feed everyone," Sally says to us all.
"You want us to give you our food to help feed your people?" Janus asks incredulously.
"If you are to stay here, yes. These are troubling times and we must all work together to survive. Again we ask that you put any food you have into the storehouse," she says firm but kindly. Janus opens his mouth to say something. Probably to tell her off but my dad speaks up first.
"We understand. However we do not have much to contribute but we will contribute nonetheless," he says.
"Thank you for understanding," Sally tells him.
"We'll head back and gather what we have up," he tells her.
"Find Taylor. She will be near where you came in and will move one of the cars for you," Sally says and then nods before walking away.
"Are we going to give them our food?" I ask my dad once she's out of earshot. Everyone shuffles a bit closer to listen.
"Some of it, yes. We'll keep most of it in the cars though. In case something happens and we need to leave. However right now this is a safe place and she runs it. We need to cooperate," he tells everyone and we all nod.
We begin walking back towards the entrance we came through. On the way we find Taylor. She nods when we tell her what we're doing and what Sally said. She follows us. When we reach it she moves one of the cars back. Enough for us to get through with some boxes. She stays in it to wait.
