Chapter 21: Another Supply Run

Virgil's P.O.V

"You good?" Logan asks me when I yawn. 

"Yeah," I say, forcing myself awake. I'm a little tired but I'll be damned if I risk the others' safety. "I'll just grab an energy drink from the store when we get there," I add. 

"Okay," Logan says. 

We arrive in town and go straight to the store we've gone to before. There are a few infected wandering the parking lot. They're all walkers though. We park close to the entrance to the store and the others do the same. 

"Let's be quick," I tell the three newcomers as I lead them inside. Logan, Roman and Patton all stand guard outside the store. Caden and Remus each grab a cart. We start walking towards the food aisles when the same infected from last time comes from one of the aisles. I immediately swing my bat into its head. When it falls to the floor I hit it again. 

"Better safe than sorry. Let's move," I tell the three who stare at me. We make it to the food aisle and they fill the first cart and mostly fill the second cart. 

"Can we head to the drink aisle?" Caden asks. I nod and we do just that.

"No water. Well let's grab some of these bottles of juice. At least it'll be something to drink," Janus suggests. Caden agrees and puts some in the second cart. While they do that I walk towards the energy drinks. I pull off my backpack and put a few in there. I also grab some more water flavoring. 

"I'd kill for some chips," I hear Remus say. 

"There should still be some here," I tell him. He smiles and walks off on his own. 

"Wait don't-" I start but Janus follows him. "If you two aren't back at the cars in two minutes we're leaving you," I say after them. 

"We'll be there," Janus says and continues walking. 

"Let's go load this stuff in the SUV," I tell Caden who nods. I push one cart while he pushes the other. 

"Where are Janus and Remus?" Logan asks when we get outside. 

"The idiots walked off to get some snacks," I tell them. "Help Caden load up. I'll go get them," I add. 

Logan nods. I walk back into the store and head to the junk food aisle. I find Janus standing alone at the end of the aisle. He's leaning against the wall.

"Where's Remus?" I ask him. 

"He took our snacks to the vehicles," Janus says. 

"Then what the hell are you doing?" I ask him. He marches up to me. I tighten the grip on my bat but otherwise freeze up. 

"Waiting for you," he says, reaching up to grab my face. He leans in and tries to kiss me. I finally push him back. 

"I have a boyfriend," I tell him. 

"Come on. It's the end of the world. Have a little fun. He doesn't have to know," he says, trying to get close. 

"I also don't have to listen to you," I say as I turn to walk away. 

"You're very beautiful Virgil. I've been thinking about you since I first saw you," he says, grabbing my arm and pulling me into him. 

"Let me go," I say in a serious tone.

"What if I don't?" he asks. 

He turns us and pushes me against the wall. He's a bit bigger than me so I find it difficult to get him off. Again he tries to kiss me but I turn my head. He kisses my cheek and tries to move down to my neck. His hand goes to the waistline of my jeans. He doesn't get the chance to do anything because I knee him in the groin.
