Virgil's P.O.V

"Did you guys hear that?" Patton asks, moving closer to Logan. Logan nods and we start walking towards where we think the noise came from.

We end up walking towards one of the first story studies and go inside. We enter the room and find a bookshelf pulled apart to show a set of stairs.

"It looks like a hidden entrance but to where it leads I have no clue," Logan says, eyeing the long set of stairs leading down. Before we get the chance to discuss our theories we hear a faint series of clicks, like heels walking along the wooden floors.

Even though I'm still mad at him I stand next to Roman and whisper, "Roman, you did say this place was abandoned didn't you?" Roman nods slightly and grabs my hand. I don't bother pulling away because if we die at least I'll be near him. If we don't die, I'm going to kill him. I'm sure Logan will help dispose of any evidence.

Whoever is walking through the house gets closer until finally an older woman probably in her fifties appears in the doorway. When she notices us she looks surprised but confused.

"Who are you? How did you get in here? I'm calling the police," the woman says walking into the room. She grabs a cell phone from a nearby desk and starts dialing but I grab her attention.

"Wait, please don't call the police. We'll leave. We didn't know this house was occupied, we just saw an old house and thought it would be fun to get some scares," I explain after pulling my hand away from Roman. Well, it looks like we aren't gonna die but one of us still might.

"I suppose I can see why you thought it was abandoned. Alright follow me," she says walking out. We all follow her back towards the front door.

While walking, Roman decides to ask her a question, "Forgive me if this comes off as intrusive but who are you? When I was doing my research on this place I was absolutely certain that no one lived here. I even came by to make sure."

She explains how she just bought this place but only arrived yesterday. She used to live in a big city as a doctor but decided that she wanted a quiet place to live. I don't know why but she keeps looking at me and it's really off putting.

"Anyways since I only got here yesterday, my stuff hasn't even arrived," she laughs lightly, "but now that I'm here I have many plans for this place in the not so distant future."

We reach the front door and she unlocks it. She mentions how although the circumstances are weird, she is glad we met. Why is she only looking at me? She wishes us well and we begin to walk out but she asks to speak with me.

"Excuse me young man, may I ask your name?" I stop and turn to look at her.

"Virgil, Virgil Queen. Why?" I respond unsure of why she asked.

"No reason you just remind me of my son, the spitting image when he was your age. He passed away about 18 years ago. Anyway you kids be careful," she explains before closing her door.

Okay? I jog to catch up with the others who have already started walking back to the cars.

"Wait for me," I call as I get closer.

Roman stops and turns around to wait for me to catch up. Once I do we all head back to the cars but before getting in I stop and turn back to look at the house while Erica drives off ahead of us. I decide to let go of the weird feeling I have about this place and the woman because she seemed nice enough, I guess.

Maybe she's just lonely. It is a big place to have seemingly all to yourself. No one says anything about what happened on the way back to the city. Roman starts going to Logan's house when Kyle leans forward.
