Chapter 15: Making a Life

Virgil's P.O.V

"Big brothers!" Ally calls out excitedly as she runs out of the house to us. 

"Hey Ally," I say with a smile. 

"You came," Ally says. 

"Well yeah. We told you we would," Roman says. 

"Let's get inside," Logan says. I nod in agreement. We all head inside the house. 

"Hey everyone," Patton says. All the Parker's and Ally's parents are sitting around the living room. 

"Have you all started your building process?" Tina asks. 

"Well we cleared a couple houses. Met two more residents. The Wentworth family and two of the Jones children," I explain. 

"Only two?" Tasha asks. 

"Yes. JJ and Luca. The rest of the family became infected. We took care of them and gave them a proper burial," I tell her. 

"Are JJ and Luca okay? Do they have food and stuff?" Alisha asks with worry. "They're alright and we gave them a box of food for tonight. We'll go give them more tomorrow," I say and she seems relieved.

"I'm assuming you two are friends?" Roman asks. Alisha nods. 

"Well if you ever want to go see her just let us know and we'll make sure you get there safely," Patton tells her. 

"Thanks. I'll let you know," she says with a grateful smile. 

"Big brothers. You were right. I made a new friend," Ally says as she grabs Kyree's hand and pulls him over to us. 

"Kyree. These are my big brothers. They're not really my family but at the same time they are," Ally tells him. 

"Hi," Kyree says. 

"Hey Kyree," Roman says. 

"Maybe we should see if JJ and Luca want to come by for a few hours. That way Janus and Remus can still help us clear the other residences," I suggest to Logan. 

"Good idea. It's not good for them to be all alone," Logan agrees. 

"Can we play hide and seek?" Kyree asks Ally. 

"Yeah!" she says. 

"How about you two go hide and I'll be it?" Patton says smiling. 

"Hey now. I want to play," Roman says. Kyree and Ally get big smiles and nod their permission. 

"All right. Let's go hide," Roman says. 

"Stay in the house," Patton tells them. They nod and all head off to hide.

Logan and I spark up a conversation with Trey. 

"Your dad said he'd start teaching hand to hand combat. Can I come when he does it?" he asks. 

"Yeah. Of course," I tell him. He nods and seems happy.  

We talk to him about stuff for about an hour before we decide it's time for us to head back. 

"We'll come by and check on you all tomorrow," I tell Tina. 

"We're grateful," she responds with a smile. 

"See you guys tomorrow," Patton says to the kids. 

"Yeah. Bye guys," Roman says. 

We head back to our house. We spend the rest of the day just hanging out. Before we know it it's time for us to go to bed.
