Roman's P.O.V"Wow," Charlie says as we near the lake. He's watching the scenery pass by.
"We'll be in town in about 15 minutes," Virgil informs us.
Soon enough we're driving through Sausal. We have to pass through to reach the lake.
"Welcome to Sausal. Once a population of 100," Virgil says as he looks around. We drive past quite a few of the infected.
"Do you think the lake is overrun as well?" I ask Virgil.
"I sure as hell hope not," he says.
"Do you think your dad will have us stay?" Patton asks.
"I'm not sure," Virgil responds.
We quickly drive all the way through and then drive the ten minutes to the lake. The lake is pretty big with cliffs surrounding most of it. There's a big clearing though around one part that leads out. It's where most people would set up their tents or picnics when spending time here.
"Amazing. To think a lake so big and beautiful was named after a town so small and run down," Charlie says as he climbs out.
"Hey. I happen to like the town. Besides, you've got it wrong. The town was named after the lake," I tell him as I too get out.
"Really? The town seemed so dingy though," Charlie tells me.
"I like to think it has character," I tell him. He chuckles.
"All right. Whatever you say," he says. "Can I go to the water?" he asks.
"Umm. Hold on. Virgil," I say to Charlie and then turn to my boyfriend.
"Is it cool if I take Charlie to the water?" I ask him. He takes a second to think about it.
"Sure. Just keep your weapons on you," he says. I nod before pulling out my shotgun and putting it on my back. Then I grab my bat.
"Did you have to ask your boyfriend for permission?" Charlie asks as we start walking.
"Yes but not for the reason you may think. Trust me. Even if you're unsure you'll grow to learn to want to follow what Virgil says. He has a really good sense about things," I explain to him.
He nods along with understanding. We reach the water and Charlie walks right up to the edge. He bends down and puts his hands in.
"Feels so good," he says.
"Yeah. This lake isn't as cold as some others are. I mean it's still cold but on hot days like this it's nice to cool down in," I tell him.
"Oh I would kill to go swimming right now," he tells me.
"It is pretty hot. I'm not so sure swimming is a good idea though. At least not until we know this area is safe," I say.
"You make a good point," he says back. He frowns.
"What's up?" I ask.
"I've really got to go," he says as he stands up.
"Oh. Umm. Head over to those trees and take this with you just in case," I say as I hand him my bat.
"Thanks. I'll be right back," he says and runs off towards the tree line. I look over at the waterfall. It's really beautiful.
"Where's Charlie?" Virgil asks from behind me after about a minute.
"Right here!" Charlie says as he runs back over to us. He hands me my bat saying, "Thanks. Sorry man, I had to go." He says the last part to Virgil.
"No it's alright. I was just curious because I didn't see you. I trust Roman wouldn't let you go far. It may suck having one of us with you but bear with it until we make sure this place is safe," Virgil tells him and he nods. Then Virgil looks at me. "My dad wants us to rest here for the night. Do you mind taking watch?" he asks me.
