Logan's P.O.V

"How do you think they're doing Lo?" Patton asks me.

"I'm sure they're okay. They're both strong and smart. They won't do anything to risk their lives," I say as we pull up to the farm.

"Alright. Let's go tell everyone about them," he says. I grab my sniper rifle from Patton. We climb out of the Hummer and walk up to the house.

"You're back!" my mother exclaims as she runs out to greet us. She pulls us both into a hug. Everyone else walks out of the house as well.

"Where are Roman and Virgil?" Diana asks with obvious worry. Roman's parents also look worried.

"They are safe. Do not worry. They stayed behind in the town to observe the infected at night," I announce to their parents and Sierra.

"Where? Are you sure they're safe Logan?" Isabella asks.

"They're barricaded on a rooftop with their bats and two guns," I tell them.

"Two?" Aaron asks.

"Virgil found a revolver in the gun store along with ammo," Patton says.

"That's good but why would they choose to stay behind?" Brian asks.

"They hoped by staying behind they could observe the infected at night. They will come back tomorrow," I explain.

"Why are they trying to see the infected?" Isabella asks.

"To see if we can learn anything about them," Patton says.

"I'll stay up tonight. They'll be checking in every two hours with the other one," I tell everyone as I hold up the radio.

"No. You boys need to be well rested to go back and get them tomorrow. I'll stay awake," Aaron says. I nod with understanding and give him the radio. We all head inside except Aaron who says he'll stay outside. He doesn't want to disturb anyone with the radio. Patton and I fall asleep like usual.

When we wake up it's morning. I wake up first and get freshened up. Patton walks into the bathroom a few minutes later. He freshens up as well.

"When will we head out?" he asks me.

"Whenever you're ready," I tell him.

"I'm ready now," he says eagerly.

"Let's go then," I say, grabbing my sniper rifle and the keys to the Hummer.

"Patton," Aaron says when he sees us.

"Yes?" Patton asks. Aaron holds out Sierra's Ruger revolver and holster.

"What's this for?" Patton asks as he hesitantly takes it.

"I spoke with Sierra. We think it's best if each of you boys has a gun while going out. Remember that when you shoot to mean it. This isn't a toy," Aaron says.

"Yes sir," Patton says back to him.

"Go get them," Aaron says.

We nod and head to the Hummer. We climb in and I hand my sniper rifle to Patton. He's staring at the revolver in his hand.

"Are you okay?" I ask him.

"I know he gave it to me for self defense but I don't know if I can kill someone..." he tells me.

"The infected are not alive anymore. Don't worry about anything beyond that," I tell him. He nods and puts the holster on his side. I turn the Hummer around and head out. We reach the town and find a few stray infected. I pull up to the gun store.
