Virgil's P.O.V

"Mom. Please. It's literally right next door," I beg my mom.

I'm trying to get her to let me, Roman, Logan and Patton move into house 410. It's been over a week since I pitched the idea to Logan and Patton. We figured we would wait until we had handled emptying the houses and burying the infected.

"I don't know Virgil," she says.

"Dad. Come on. You know we'll be careful and take every precaution to make the house safe," I say, turning to my dad. "Roman and Logan's parents already gave the go ahead," I add.

"Hey I'm not the one you need to convince. You know I trust you. It's your mother you need to talk to," my dad says. I look back at my mom and give her the best puppy dog look I can manage.

"Oh. Alright. You're old enough to make your own decisions. I should be happy you thought of asking at all. You easily could've just went off without asking. I guess I just don't want to lose my baby boy," she says.

"Hey. No matter how old I get I'll still be your son and you'll still be my parents. I love you both," I tell them.

My mom smiles and pulls me into a hug.

"Can't breathe mom," I say when she squeezes a little too tight. She's definitely stronger than she looks.

"Sorry honey," she says with a smile.

"I want you to come eat dinner with us at least a few times a week. Promise me," she adds.

"Of course. We planned on that already. Roman and Logan's parents gave the same condition," I say.

"Alright. Let's pack up the Hummer with some food for the days you don't eat here," my dad says as he puts an arm around my shoulders.

"Honey. One more thing," my mom says as I'm walking away.

"Yeah?" I ask.

"I don't want you and Roman having sex until we can get you both some protection," she says.

"Mom!" I exclaim as my face heats up.

"Told you she'd say the same thing. Look who's laughing now," Logan says, laughing lightly as he walks into the living room.

Roman and Patton are with him. Logan has clear amusement on his face. Now I know how he felt when I teased him and Patton until they were both blushing hard.

"Assholes. Not you Pat. Were you eavesdropping?" I ask.

"It was Logan's idea," Roman says.

"I needed to be here the moment that your mom told you the last condition," Logan says simply.

"Asshole," I repeat and he just smirks.

"Virgil. You didn't answer," my mom says.

"Yes. Yes. I heard you. Can we go gather our stuff now?" I ask her, still embarrassed.

"Go ahead," she says. I quickly walk past Roman and my friends. I walk upstairs to grab my backpack but as soon as I reach our room I take a second to try and make my blush go away.

"You're adorable when you're flustered," Roman says from behind me. He hugs me from behind.

"I'm not flustered," I say but even I don't believe that. "Whatever. Let's get our stuff and head downstairs to gather some food," I add once I'm sure my face is back to normal.

Roman chuckles but doesn't say anything. We grab our backpacks and blankets.

With all that in hand we make our way downstairs. We throw all our stuff in the backseat. It's just our blankets and backpacks. Now that our stuff is ready to go we make our way to the kitchen. My dad is in there putting some food in three boxes.
