Part 6: A conversation with Dad

As Thomas began walking to Nino's house, he talked with Plagg. "Are you sure this is the right way Plagg?" Thomas asked, "I don't remember Uncle Nino's house being this way..."

"That's because he moved shortly after he married Alya!" the Kwami said "But I swear his house is around here somewhere! Adrien went to his house a million times when he was young."

"You were always close with my Dad huh?" Thomas said

"Oh yeah. Me and your Dad go way back." the Kwami then looked off into the distance and was lost in thought. "I remember when I first met him. He introduced me to my one true love. She was creamy, slightly runny, and perfectly aged. Ah, Camembert"

he then looked sad. "While I do miss real Camembert, I'm more worried about Adrien. Are you sure he'll be ok?"

"I know he'll be Plagg," Thomas said. "After all, Ladybug is with him and together those two can do anything."

Plagg then hugged the young boy. "Thank you Thomas." the Kwami said, "You're one of the best users I've ever had."

Suddenly a car horn honked behind them. Thomas looked behind to see an expensive silver car pull up behind him on the street. A familiar voice called out, "Hey! Thomas! Can we give you a ride?!"

Thomas looked back to find Adrien sticking half his body out the window of the car to call to him. "Sure!" Thomas quickly went over and got in the car.

"You're headed to Nino's right?" Adrien asked

"Yeah. I was just walking over there now. How crazy right?"

"Yeah" The car then took off and headed towards Nino's neighborhood.

"So Thomas, how long are you in Paris?" Adrien inquired

"Only a few weeks. But I wish I could stay longer. You guys all seem cool."

"Yeah. Everybody can be really nice."

"Like Marinette? She's been really nice to my sister."

"Yeah. She's really great. She even gave me these." He then pulled a strand of various beads that were held together by string.

"Wow, that's really nice of her." Thomas said. He pulled his sleeve over his wrist, as on it he had the exact same strand of beads, given to him for his birthday.

"Yeah." Adrien then put the beads away. "I was gonna ask you something though."

"Really?" Thomas suddenly felt nervous. "What did you want to ask?"

"I noticed that you and Marinette have a similar last name. And your hair is kind of a similar color."

Oh, man! Thomas thought. My mistake is coming back to haunt me! What do I do?!

"Are you related to Marinette?" Adrien asked

What do I do?! Thomas thought. Do I lie? Would he be able to tell?!

"Uh, not as far as I know," Thomas said with an unconvincing tone. "We just look kinda similar, you know? We're not actually related or anything."

"Ok then. I was just curious. You guys do have a similar last name after all" Adrien said.

Thomas sighed in relief. He remembered how oblivious his father could be sometimes, like how his glasses could be on the table and he'd look all over the house for them. Or just the fact that he couldn't figure out their Mom was Ladybug after years of working with her.

"So, um what about you Da...Adrien?" Thomas said, stopping himself. "Is there anyone in your life? A girlfriend maybe?"

"Uh, well, there is someone, I guess," Adrien said awkwardly. "But I don't think she feels the same way."

"Really?" Thomas said. "And why is that?"

"Well, she doesn't realize it yet, but she's the girl of my dreams. I only hope one day it will all work out."

"Well, that's great," Thomas said. Suddenly the car stopped. They had arrived

"Well, I guess we're here," Adrien said, beginning to exit the car.

"Uh, Wait! Adrien!" Thomas said as he got out of the car. "You don't happen to have any Camembert, do you? I heard a rumor you've always got camembert and I kinda want some right now if you do."

Adrien looked confused. "Well, I mean, I do have Camembert, so here you go," He gave an awkward smile and walked up the stairs. Thomas said thanks as Adrien walked away

"That was too close you know," Plagg said as Thomas put the cheese away.

"Just relax Plagg. Once we finish our mission I'll get you all the Camembert you can eat."
