Miraculous: Tales of Ms. Ladybug and Tom Cat

Part 49: Inheritance

As the fight pressed on, the siblings ran to their parents, Thomas de-transforming in the process due to his Miraculous needing to recharge.

"Mom! Dad!" Emilie said. "Are you guys ok?"

"We're fine for now." Ladybug said. "I would be angry but don't have time for that right now. Right now you need to help us break free so we can help the other heroes."

Bunyx suddenly appeared next to them, out of breath. "Bunyx?" Ladybug asked "What happened? Is Timetagger defeated?"

"Listen to me!" she said. "We don't have much time. I only held him off for a second. I know this is probably the last thing you want right now, but I saw the future. We need to take away your Miraculous!"

Every member of the Agreste family had the same reaction. It started as a silent shock, before descending into a cascade of arguments.

"We can't give up our Miraculous!" Ladybug said, "That's rule number one of being a superhero!"

"You're Paw-sitively insane if you think I'm giving up my Miraculous!" Cat Noir exclaimed

"How can they save Paris if they don't have their powers?!" Emilie questioned

"If we give up the Miraculous we might as well be handing them to Hawk Moth!" Thomas interjected

The arguments continued like this until Bunyx shouted, "ENOUGH! You're not listening to me! I saw the future. Ladybug and Cat Noir kept their Miraculous and Hawk Moth was able to take them. The only solution is to give them to someone else so they can take them away from here!"

Her face fell with a horrified expression. "I've seen the future where he takes the Miraculous, and it's truly awful. It results in the end of the world."
Timetagger suddenly appeared behind Bunyx. "You're gonna pay for that Fluffy Tail! Do you know how hard it is to deal with Cybertrons?!" He then proceeded to fire his gun, only to have Bunyx deflect the blast. "Get the Miraculous away from here. Do that and the future can be fixed and Hawk Moth can be stopped. Go! Do it now!" Bunyx disappeared as the time-fight continued, leaving the Agreste family with a hefty decision to make.

"We can't give up our Miraculous for any reason." Ladybug said. "There has to be another way."

"I don't know Milady," Chat Noir said. "What if Bunyx is right? What if we do lose the Miraculous to Hawk Moth because we can't give them up?" 

"But I swore an oath to never give them up for any reason!"

"You may not be able to give them up," he looked over at the kids, "But you can pass them on,"

Marinette was shocked, "no, we can't do that! Adrien, they're just kids!"

"We're right here," Emilie said "Mom, you know you can trust us. We won't even use them if we don't have to! Besides, you're trapped in ice and can't go anywhere. We can get out of this sewer and run back home. Hawk Moth will never see us coming!"

Ladybug didn't look convinced.

"Mom, there's no other way right now," Thomas said, "The Peacock Miraculous can't work until Duusu is fed and we don't have any food. Not to mention that Hawk Moth is minutes away!"

Ladybug just sighed. "When did you two get so smart?" She then gave a nod to Cat Noir, who returned it.

Emilie removed her Mother's earrings before putting them in a jewelry box. Thomas removed the ring from his father's free hand and did the same. Marinette looked at her children. Were they really teenagers? Had they grown up so much? She heard sniffling to find her husband beginning to cry.

"Is everything alright Kitty?" she asked.

"Yeah." he said, "It's just hard to believe that you're this grown-up. It feels like only yesterday you were kindergarteners who clung to my leg whenever I had to drop them off at school."

"Dad!" the siblings said in unison.

Marinette turned her head to her kids. "You're Dad is gonna be like this for a while. You better get going!" The siblings began to climb the ladder to the street. "Keep them safe at all costs! We'll be ok! We love you!"
