Miraculous: Tales of Ms. Ladybug and Tom Cat

Part 37: Volpina

Volpina was struggling.

This maze was strengthening her power, allowing her illusions to continue to work on auto-pilot even after she made another. Akumatised villains and Senti-monster illusions that were so real that no one could tell the difference between the real ones and reality until they defeated them. She impressed even herself with their quality and design. But she had to constantly watch her Minotaur illusions, as one misstep and her illusions would shatter. It may have been difficult, but she was close to achieving her goal. She couldn't give up now. Soon, Ladybug and Chat Noir would be crushed, and Volpina would reign as the ruler of Paris with Hawk Moth. She would be the ultimate leader, and whatever she said would be the truth. No one would ever be able to call her a liar ever again.

As Volpina focused on her illusion, she didn't pay attention to the heroine that had just popped up behind her.

"So you're Volpina," the voice said. "Funny, I thought you'd look more intimidating. But instead, you look like a knock-off version of me."
Volpina's rage burned in her chest. She turned around to find Rena Rouge leaning against a chimney.

"A knock-off?!" she said. "I'm the original. You're just a cheap copy of me! And you came here all alone without any backup. It's almost funny that you think you can take me on.  I am the most powerful supervillain in Paris and you're just a joke!"

Volpina threw her flute at her, only to find it to be an illusion.

"Didn't you get your powers from Hawk Moth?" Rena asked, appearing behind her. "So technically wouldn't he be the most powerful in Paris because he can take away your powers?"

Volpina was furious. "Trust me. You'll wish I was Hawk Moth when I'm through with you."

Volpina charged at Rena with her flute, only to find it to be another illusion.

"You really thought there'd only be one duplicate?" Rena said. "Are you really that dumb? Ladybug was right. You really are living a lie"

Volpina couldn't see Rena Rouge, and she was getting angrier and angrier with every passing quip. "You're gonna pay for that! I'll make you suffer Rena Rouge!"

Putting her flute to her mouth, Volpina played a tune, and suddenly 20 copies of herself appeared and split up to find the fox heroine "Copies of yourself? Who's the copycat now?"

Volpina growled. "If you're so sure that I can't beat you, come out and fight and I'll show you just how weak you actually are!"

Rena suddenly walked into the light behind Volpina. "You see Volpina, that's the difference between you and me. You're all alone. You lie to yourself and tell yourself you can do everything yourself; taking everything you want and never relying on anyone."

Volpina sent her flute through the illusions' chest, causing it to dissipate."While I," Rena said, from a taller rooftop. "Have friends I can count on."

Surrounding Rena was Carapace and Ladybug; who were standing ready to strike.

"Your reign of terror ends tonight, Volpina. Prepare for your defeat" Ladybug said. She then threw her yo-yo into the air and shouted her magic words.

"Lucky Charm!"

A flash of red light later, and an object with a Ladybug pattern appeared in Ladybug's hand.

Volina laughed. "A pack of chewing gum? Seriously? How are you gonna stop me with that?"

The heroes drew their weapons, ready to attack when the moment was right.

"This will be the end for you Ladybug!" Volpina shouted. She then charged at the line of superheroes with a plethora of illusory duplicates.

The heroes continued to fight the duplicates while Ladybug put together a plan. After a moment the solution became clear. She then took a piece of gum and chewed it for a moment before taking it out and looking to the ground, where a Micromouse clone was hiding.
