Part 54: Bug Moth

Hugo's plans were falling apart at the seams.

They can't be defeated, he thought. My existence isn't secure yet and I don't have the Miraculous.

He looked over at the scene below. Cat Blanc was barely on the ground, struggling to stay conscious. Both Hawk Moth and Mayura were fighting Ladybug, Cat Noir, and the rest of the Miraculous holders.

I need to intervene. He thought. But how?

He needed definite success. A way to get his plan back on track. Cat Blanc was his ace in the hole, but he'd failed. So he decided to go with his far riskier plan b. Because what's better than an ace in the hole? Two Aces.

He quickly took the akumatized earrings from his cane and removed the akuma, keeping it instead in his jacket. Even if he'd kept it wouldn't work anyway, as it was impossible to akumatize the wielder the Butterfly Miraculous. As he put the earrings in, Tikki the kwami appeared.

When she saw Hugo, she was deathly afraid. She attempted to fly away before Hugo caught her. "Going somewhere?" he asked.

Wincing, he put the earrings into his from his newly pierced ear lobes, drawing blood in the process. He'd never gotten to wear earrings before, as the man who raised him had always told him that earrings on males were low class. For now, he would manage with the pain and take whatever power he could get.

"Please don't do this!" Tikki begged desperate tears in her eyes. "The Miraculous are only meant to be used for the greater good! Please let me go! I don't want to do evil!"

Hugo scoffed. "Good? Evil? Aren't you kwami's supposed to be all-knowing? Good and Evil are simply a point of view. Good things can have evil consequences, just as evil things can have good consequences. And at this moment, bad things need to happen to cause a good future. One glorious and just."

He plunged his cane into the rooftop so it would stand on its own. "Now, no more delays. Nooru, Tikki, unify!"

As he turned into Bugmoth, he used his powers to form an akuma that he let fly away.

"Watch over the scene little Akuma. I'll have use for you soon enough."

The shadowy butterfly flew away and Bugmoth went to join the fray below.

Soon it will be all over, he thought. Soon, I'll finally do what that fool down there couldn't do. Soon, I'll have all of the Miraculous and make my dream come true!
