Miraculous: Tales of Ms. Ladybug and Tom Cat

Part 68-The Future

After a brief discussion and a few confessions, their parents had decided to passionately declare their love for each other with a kiss. As the siblings saw the scene, they politely looked away.

Upon seeing their future children, Marinette and Adrien welcomed them back.

"We got all of the Miraculous back," Emilie said. She then took off the mouse necklace and added it to the Miracle Box, turning her from Bugmouse into Ladybug.

"Thank you, Emilie," Marinette said, accepting the Miracle Box. "But, there's still one thing I don't understand. What happened to Hawk Moth? The one from the future I mean."

"Yeah," Emilie said, turning towards Thomas. "What did happen? How'd he get away?"

Thomas had a choice to make. Should he tell his sister that their brother was evil? That he was a monster? That he had caused all of this hurt and strife? She'd already had too much happen to her today. He'd tell her later, but right now she didn't need to know.

"He managed to beat me and ran away. I saw him use Mayura's Miraculous before creating a sentimonster to create a portal back home."

Emilie was disappointed. "Well, at least you tried," she said. "Well, then what do we do now? We've messed up the timeline and we didn't capture Hawk Moth. So, did we fail?"

"I think I can answer that." a voice said.

The four of them turned their heads to see Bunyx, adult Bunyx, standing in front of a white portal holding the Lucky Charm knife.

"You may not have captured the bad guy," she began. "But at least you can fix the whole, "messed up the timeline" deal." She then presented the knife to Emilie. "Care to do the honors?"

"Wait," Marinette asked. "Does this mean we won't remember any of this?"

Emilie took the knife and realized what it meant. "The Miraculous Ladybugs should repair all the damage,"

"So the timeline will be fixed!" Thomas said excitedly before the realization hit. "Which means,"

"Everyone's memory will be erased," Emilie said. She then looked over at her parents "Including yours."

Both of them shared a look of disappointment. "You mean we'll forget everything that happened here today?" Marinette said. "Even each other's secret identities?"

Emilie nodded. "I'm sorry,"

Marinette got up and hugged them. "It's ok," she said. She released them and looked over at Adrien. "Will you find me again?"

He grabbed her hand, grasping it tightly. "Always Milady," he joined in the hug. 

"It's not like you'll never see us again," Thomas said. "We are your successors after all."

Marinette smiled at that and looked at Adrien. "It looks like future us made the right choice. Paris is lucky to have the two of you to protect it in the future."

"Thanks, Marinette," Emilie said. "If only this could last forever. Wait..." Emilie looked down at her hands, where the answer hit her. She quickly took out the old phone that Bunyx had given her.

She raised the camera and SNAP! The flash went off and the picture appeared on the screen. Emilie showed the image to the group.

Adrien then turned to Marinette. "Promise me you won't take forever to find me again milady."

Marinette chuckled. "I'll try Kitty," she said, before kissing him one last time.

"All right kiddies," Bunyx said. "It's time to head home before you end up causing any more damage."

The siblings began to walk towards the portal but were stopped by Adrien.

"Wait," he said, turning to the siblings. "It was fantastic meeting you both. I can't wait to meet you again."

Thomas looked at his Dad with a curious look. "Are you crying?"

Adrien wiped his tears. "I just, can't wait to see you again. Be good heroes. And keep Paris safe."

"We will Adrien," Thomas said, stepping into the portal. "Ready to go Emilie?"

Emilie took one last look at the Paris of the past. A lot was going to change in the coming years, but no matter what. It would always be the home of Ladybug. It would always be her home.

She tossed the knife into the air.

"Miraculous Ladybug!"

As soon as the words were said, the magic ladybugs went to work. And there was a lot of work to do. The debris from the destruction was reformed into the Eiffel Tower and the people crushed under the rubble were brought back to life, including Lila Rossi. Then the Miraculous holders were returned to their homes, losing their memories in the process. Everyone else's memories were wiped too, so no one would remember or even recognize the names Emilie, Thomas, or Hugo. In addition, Chloe Bourgeois was brought back, and her penthouse was repaired to its previous condition. Finally, the Miracle Box went with Marinette back to her room hidden within her sewing kit, along with her earrings which were repaired. 

The Ladybugs then went through Bunyx's portal and repaired all the damage caused by the Misfortune 5 in the future; melting the ice and returning the Miraculous Super Squad to normal. It was now as it was when Emilie had arrived, sunny and bright, with a welcoming light pouring through the portal.

Thomas happily stepped through the portal home but Emilie was more hesitant.

"Bunyx, you can see into the future right? Tell me, if I go back and tell my parents, will they accept me?"

"Well, the future isn't set in stone minibug. Anything can happen if you want it to. And even though I could tell you, I find that it's sometimes better to let people experience things as they occur. So the best thing to do would be to find out for yourself."

Emilie nodded. "Thanks, Bunyx," she said. She then took a deep breath and stepped through the portal to her new life...
