Miraculous: Tales of Ms. Ladybug and Tom Cat

Part 46-The Misfortune Five

Thomas ran over to the holo TV and turned it on, opening a midair projection above the device itself. On the screen, a newswoman with dark hair and brown eyes was reporting the news. Thomas always tried to follow superhero battles, both to observe and admire his favorite heroes and to make sure that his parents were ok.

"This is Mireille Caquet reporting on the current akuma situation. A giant wave of ice has encompassed all of Paris, trapping citizens and completely covering all exposed streets and buildings. It appears based on satellite footage that the ice is currently still spreading as far as the outskirts of Paris. No word on the heroes' response just yet..." she paused for a moment, "I'm just now receiving word that our heroes are on the scene. We're now going to Aurore Beauréal, and our eye in the sky."

The camera then flipped to a blonde woman in a teal blazer looking out on the scene from a helicopter.

"Thanks, Mireille. From what we can see, it appears that Ladybug and Chat Noir are currently engaged with a villain here at the Eiffel Tower. The villain appears to be Frozer, the ice-skating villain, as well as several villains, including Kwami-Buster, Party Crasher, and Desperada. So far the group has caused major disruptions throughout the city, but despite that our heroes seem ok." Aurore put her hand to her earpiece. "It appears that the villains are addressing the people  now..."

Frozer gave an evil laugh. "Citizens of Paris! We are the Misfortune Five! We come as the harbinger of your doom and destruction! You will all bow before and tremble at the feet of your new ruler! The one and only Hawk Moth!"

The battle continued as Ladybug and Cat Noir fought the deadly combination of villains. They even called in the other heroes to their aid but even together they weren't able to stop him. One by one they either fell to Desperada's instrument attacks, Party Crasher's Dazzling Beam, or Kwami-Buster's vacuum attacks, causing their Kwamis to get captured. Rena Rouge, Carapace, Viperion, Vesperia, Pegasus, King Monkey, Pigella, Tigress Poupre, Polymouse, Minotaurox, Capri Kid, and Coq-Courage all tried to aid them but were defeated or lost their powers. Finally, Ladybug and Cat Noir were caught in a block of ice. The villains then put them down into a sewer, while the remaining heroes were frozen near the entrance. The siblings were shocked as they watched the footage play out. Never before had Paris seen such a skilled group of villains. They had conquered every member of the Miraculous Super Squad and didn't look like they were slowing down.

As the villains appeared to emerge victorious, Party Crasher used his powers to project an image to the sky to where all of Paris could see it. It showed a man with dark hair and a silver mask. His jacket was purple and displayed proudly on his lapel was the butterfly Miraculous. He cleared his throat and addressed the people.

"People of Paris," he began. "You know my name and you fear it. After all this time I have returned to achieve vengeance on these so-called heroes. And now with no one to protect you, you will have no choice but to bow before me! This world is now under the jurisdiction of your all-powerful leader. The one and only Hawk Moth!"

Emilie was shocked as she watched the message. This had never happened before. Whether it was Pain and Tears or Monsieur Rat or even the Eclipse Invaders Ladybug and Cat Noir always won. Her parents would always win in the end, no matter what. This couldn't happen, it wasn't happening. It was impossible...
