The train station was always busy around 4:00 pm, no matter what era you're in. Thomas usually hated rush hour at the station, but today he was excited. As he held a sign that said, "Welcome Home!" he couldn't stop smiling. His father wasn't much better. His Dad was smiling so hard that his glasses were about to fall off his face.
"If you guys smile anymore your faces are gonna get stuck like that."
Thomas looked over to see his Mom coming up from behind them. She quickly walked up to them and gave Thomas a kiss on the cheek and Adrien one on the lips.
"Sorry I'm so late, but I just barely managed to finish the designs for the upcoming shoot and get a cab, and then we ran into traffic and," she sighed as she remembered the odyssey she'd taken just to get here. "It was really hard but at least I'm here so everything can be perfect!"
Adrien looked at her empty hands, and a smug smile appeared on his face. "Aren't you missing something Milady?"
Marinette looked down, eyes wide before jumping in surprise. "Gah! I totally forgot the flowers! This is a disaster! Maybe if I hurry I can get some! But what if they don't have the right kind? What if I accidentally grab Daisies?! She's allergic! Where's the nearest flower shop?! I might be able to run and grab some before her train gets here..."
"Mom!" Thomas said, grabbing her shoulder and pulling her back to reality. "I'm sure it's gonna be fine. Emilie will understand." He'd gotten used to this. His mother often spun out of control whenever she was busy and having trouble remembering everything she needed to do. But luckily she always had either him, Thomas, or her assistant Wayem to help her whenever she needed to be grounded.
Marinette nodded and took a deep breath. Compared to her younger self, she was taller and was beginning to have gray hair. Her hair was in a short braid and tied with a red hair tie. Her freckles were much more pronounced and smile lines had begun to form around her eyes. But what had to be the most dramatic change was the air of confidence and a self-assured attitude that she'd developed over years as a superhero/wife/head designer for her own fashion brand.
Compared to Marinette, Adrien hadn't changed much appearance-wise. His golden hair was in the same style as it had been since he was a teenager, but he now sported a pair of black glasses to make up for his aging eyesight. He was dressed in a comfortable dark green sweater over a shirt and tie. His attitude had changed as well/ After years of being away from his father, his cheeks were rosier and his skin was less pale. Overall, he looked and felt happier and more full of life.
"Don't worry about the flowers milady. I already took care of it."
He quickly did a magic trick and pulled a whole bouquet of flowers from what seemed like thin air. He quickly presented them to Marinette.
"For the loveliest lady in the world. And now that we have the flowers, everything is on track." He looked over at the train tracks and the two of them quickly got the pun.
Marinette rolled her eyes with a smile and a blush as she graciously accepted the flowers.
Thomas groaned. He loved his parents, but sometimes their affection got a little out of hand.
Marinette just gave him a motherly look. "You'll see Thomas. One day you'll meet someone special and fall in love and then your children will be the ones groaning."
Before Thomas could respond, a voice came over the intercom, stating that the 4:15 pm train from London was arriving.
"That's Emilie's train!" Thomas said as the train pulled into the station. He moved through the whole crowd of travelers and looked all around for her. It took a few minutes he caught sight of her blonde hair.
