One and Only

Ch. 16

"Emma, stop!" I yell as I follow Emma down the stairs with Aaron right behind me. We get to the living room and she stops and turns to me. "What the hell was that?!" "What do you mean?" "You know exactly what I mean! What were you doing making out with my brother?!" "I don't know." "Yes, you do. Just tell me!" "Fine. I didn't want to tell you like this, but Aaron and I have been dating for 2 months." "What?!" "Yeah. The night I spent the night at your house on the last day of school he asked me to be his girlfriend and I said yes." "I can't believe this! Does anyone know about this?!" "Hailey and Adam do." All of a sudden, at the worst possible time, Hailey and Adam walk into the house through the front door. Emma glares at them and says, "Is it true that you 2 knew that Sarah and Aaron have been dating for 2 months?!" Adam leans over to Hailey and says, "I think Emma knows they are dating." "You think!" Hailey says looking at Adam. "Well?!" "Emma, you need to calm down okay." "Is it true or not!" "Yes. It's true. Adam and I have known since they started dating." "I can't believe this! I do have one question and I want you to answer this honestly. Have you and Aaron had sex?" I look at Aaron and he looks back at me. "Yes, we have," Aaron says. "No, I don't want to hear it from you, Aaron. I want to hear it from Sarah." I look at the floor and say, "Yes, Aaron and I had sex." Emma's jaw drops to the floor and you can see the hurt and anger in her eyes. "You and Hailey know how much that pact means to me, and for you to be dating my brother and having sex with him for almost the entire summer behind my back and have Hailey know about it too, makes me feel like you don't care about the pact or this friendship at all." "That's not true I care about this friendship. But, why do you care about that pact anyway?" I ask. "Because people have used me to get to my brother and I didn't want to know that, that's why you two are in my life too. But I guess I was right all along. You were just using me to get to my brother." "That's not what's happening here. I care about you." "Then why did you keep your relationship a secret?!" "We were keeping it a secret so you wouldn't get hurt and we could still be friends." "Well, that didn't work, because we are no longer friends!" "Emma, you don't mean that. I know you don't." "Yes, I do. You are a fucking bitch! He is going to break your heart and I'm not going to be there to support or help you. You are going to be all alone when he does." "Emma, come on please," I say with tears in my eyes. "Don't you ever talk me again." Emma walks away and I begin to cry. Aaron hugs me and kisses me on the top of my head. "It's okay. She will get over this. You, Emma and Hailey are going to get through this. Your friendship is the strongest one I have ever seen." "It just doesn't feel like that." "I know it doesn't right now, but it will." I continue to cry in his arms and he hugs me tighter. "Let me take you home." "Can you stay with me tonight?" "Yeah, let me go pack a bag." He starts to let go of me, but I grab his hand and we go to his room together. I guess Emma heard us come up the stairs because the second we got to the top she slams her door shut. Aaron and I go to his room and he packs a bag. Once he finishes the both of us, Hailey, and Adam go to our cars and go home. Right as I think this day couldn't get any worse I see my parent's and Aaron's parents pull up to the house.
