One and Only

Ch. 19

I wake up to Aaron on the phone with someone. He is being as quiet as he possibly can. I look at my phone and see that it's 10 o'clock. Aaron notices that I'm awake and says, "I have to go. I'll call you later." "Who was that?" "Adam. He told his parents what happened and they said that you, me, Hailey, and Adam could go up to the lake house for a week and get away from everything." "Wait, but didn't you guys just get back from the lake house?" "Yeah, but Adam and I are okay with going back if that's what you and Hailey want." Right after he said that I get a text from Hailey.

Hailey- Adam just told me that his parents are letting the 4 of us go to their lake house for the week. Do you want to do it?

Me- I think I do. I need to get away from everything.

Hailey- Okay good because I do too.

Me- Let's do it.

I put my phone down and say, "Let's go to the lake house." A smile forms on Aaron's face and he picks me up. Aaron puts a shirt on and we go downstairs to ask my parents if I can go. "Hey mom, dad, Adam's parents just invited me, Aaron, Hailey, and Adam to go to their lake house. Is it okay if I go? I really need to clear my mind and I think going to the lake house with them is going to help." My parents talk and then my dad says, "Yes, you can go, but we have 2 rules." "What are they?" "1, you two can't do any funny business and 2, have fun." "Thanks dad," I say hugging him. "Don't worry Mr. and Mrs. Matthews we won't do anything you 2 wouldn't approve of." "I trust you Aaron. If I didn't I would not let Sarah go," my dad says. "When do you leave?" my mom asks. Aaron answers with, "We leave either, tomorrow or Thursday which ever works for Adam." All of a sudden, my phone buzzes, it says,

Hailey- I thought we could use this group chat for the lake house trip and for whatever our group is.

I smile and look at Aaron because he got the same notification.

Aaron- that's a really good idea.

Adam- Yeah, what even are we anyway.

Me- A group of friends and S.O.'s who really need each other.
