chapter 9 - kyo's birthday pt.5 dinner with family

Kyo POV

          When Sushi and I got back to my house I saw everybody already inside talking. Then I saw Kashi and he was the only one I haven't spent time with today. He also has told me anything about Obito yet. So, when I did see him, I ran over to him and said "KASHI" while I tackled him into the tightest hug I could give. "Oh man, she already forgot about me. After all the playing we just did." Said Sushi. "You're so silly sushi. I didn't forget you. It's just that I haven't gotten to hang out with Kashi yet and it's already dinner time" I said. Oh man I feel bad. I spent too much time with all my other brothers and now I don't have any time with Kashi before dinner.

            "I'm sorry Kashi" I said with tears in my eyes. "Don't cry little one. What's there to be sorry for?" asked Kashi. "Well, I wanted to spend time with all of my brothers for my birthday before dinner and the festival and you're the only one of my brothers I didn't spend some time with." I said sadly.

            "Oh, that's okay. It's nothing to cry about. Actually, this is part of the plan. You and I are going to spend our time together after dinner and after we give you our present before you and Sasuke meet up with your friends for the festival. Is that okay?" Kashi said. Oh, thank goodness. That's a relief. "Yeah, that sounds good" "Good now let's wipe those tears off that little face. The birthday girl shouldn't be sad on her birthday don't you think little one." Said kashi while wiping my tears with his sleeve. "okay" I said. "Now let me see that smile" I giggled then smiled at him. "There she is. Now let's go inside don't want to keep everyone waiting." Kashi said.

            "Hello everybody!" I said walking into the dining room. After a few greetings we all sat down and started eating the food my mom made. It was so good but then again everything she makes is good. She is going to have to teach me how to cook when I get older. Kashi too. He's also a good cook. I sat in between Sasuke who insisted I sit next to him and Kashi. While we were eating, we had some light chatter about what we all did today and about my brother's missions.

          Then we were finally finishing dinner and that is when Tachi said "Okay Kyo all of us are give you our present now so close your eyes and hold out your hands.". I am so excited to see what they all came up with. So, I squealed, closed my eyes, and held out my hands. I felt a light metal object being placed in my hands. "Alright little one, open your eyes" said kashi. I opened them to see a silver necklace with a locket on it. On the front it had what looked like a drawing of the sun and it felt weird on the back, so I turned it over and I was surprised. On the back of the locket were the names of all my brothers listed as: Obito, Itachi, Sasuke, Shisui, Kakashi.

        I immediately started to tear up "Wow you guys! It's so beautiful. I really like the sun in the front, and I love that all your names are on the back... even Obito." I said with tears of joy running down my face. "Why don't you look inside munchkin?" said Sushi. "Yeah, Kiki open it" said Sasu. I opened it up and my eyes locked with the goggle covered eyes in the picture inside. It was a picture of Obito. My brothers are the sweetest people in the whole world. I cannot believe they did this all for me. I really have the best brothers I could ever ask for. "Now you can feel connected to all of us all the time." Said Tachi. "I can't believe it! This is the best gift ever. Thank you all so much I love you all." I said. "We all pitched in to make it personal for you" said Kashi. "Yeah, I drew the sun on the front because to us you are the sun" said Sasu. "I was the one who picked out the locket" said Tachi. "I was in charge of our names being engraved" said Sushi. "I was in charge of getting that picture for you" said Kashi.

           They really did all of this. Just for me. "I promise to cherish this and wear it always so I can feel connected to you guys." I said and I attempted to put it around my neck. "Here let me help you with that sweetheart" said mommy. It was really hard for me to put it on. "Thanks mom" "No problem Dear." "Thank you, boys, so much for all that you did and do for Kyo. Her mother and I are very grateful to you all" said Papa. Then he continued with "Okay Kyo you better get yourself ready for your time with Kakashi before the festival. So, wash your dish.". "Okay papa." I said. Then I walked over to him and gave him a hug and a kiss on the cheek and said "thank you for the very nice Kunai and Shuriken set. I promise to train hard and use them with care.".

*Flashback to before dinner*

        When I got inside after talking to Kashi I went to my room and saw a box on my bed with a note. The box was full of Kunai and Shuriken. It was a birthday gift from my parents. I definitely didn't expect anything from them especially my dad or anyone for that matter. I am so grateful for them all. I went over to the box and opened the note.

      "Happy Birthday Kyo This is your first set of ninja weapons so do your best to treat them well. A ninja is only as good as the jutsu in their arsenal and weapons on their person. Handle them with care for we will start training soon. We love you."

               Then it was signed by my mommy and papa.

It wasn't as emotional as the bear, the bracelet, or the flower. But this means a lot coming from my parents. I wouldn't expect anything less.

*End of Flashback*

            After washing my dish, I was ready to go be with Kashi. I wasn't sure what he had planned for us, but I had a feeling I was finally going to get the answers I've been craving for especially now that I have this locket. What kind of person was Obito? How did he live his life?
