s/n= son's name

"Park mommy, park!" jumped your three year old on the sidewalk as you smiled at them

"That's right s/n, we're going to the park today" you said as you forced a smile on your face

You loved your son and you loved going to the park and watch him have fun

You loved spending time with him

But everyone in the small town you lived in knew of the situation you were in

You were a single mom, the father of your child left as soon as he found out you were pregnant

You were young and you weren't expecting to have a child at such a young age, but it was a blessing in disguise

However the people in your town did not see it the same way

The moment you were around the other mom's, they would start gossiping about you and your child, making your heart ache at the hurtful things they would say

"We're here mommy!"

"Hey Y/N, hey little buddy" spoke a voice behind you

You turned around and saw the person who has helped you the most around the little town you lived in

Grayson Dolan

He had just moved into the town and he had heard what happened to you

He decided he would try to be there as much he could for you and s/n

"Grayson!" ran your little boy to the broad shouldered man as he was picked up easily

"Hey there little buddy, not causing your mommy any trouble are you?"

"No, I'm a good boy, right mommy?"

"Of course you are, you're the best boy in the whole wide world" you cooed your son as you ruffled his hair

"Don't go too far s/n, somewhere where your mommy and I can watch you, ok?" said a concerned Grayson

Your son nodded and ran off to the playground while you and Grayson made your way to a bench nearby to watch s/n

"Is that the girl who got pregnant?"

"Yea, I heard her boyfriend found her sleeping with another man and left her!"

"I heard she was consuming drugs and couldn't stop until she gave birth!"

"Such a disgrace!"

They muttered around you as you looked down at your lap shamefully

"You know it's a real shame," Grayson spoke out loud as you turned your head towards him, "there are some people in this town who don't know how to keep their mouth shut, would be a real shame if their children grew up as disgusting as them" he said as he side eyed you, watching you let out a little giggle

The mom's around you gasped and left to go sit somewhere else

"You really are something else Grayson" you said as you put your hand on top of his unconsciously, making Grayson blush

"Well it's true" he said

"Mommy, look!" spoke out your son as he crossed the monkey bars

"Wow, good job sweetheart, Grayson I'm going to get some ice cream" You said as you pointed to the ice cream truck near the playground

"I'll go with you" he said as he stood up

"You know, I'm really thankful to have you in my life" you confessed, "I don't know what I would've done if you hadn't entered mine and s/n life, you always take such good care of us"

"I think you're mistaken, I'm the one who's thankful to have you two in my life, the best part of my day is being able to see you guys after a long day at work...I especially like seeing you"

"O-oh" you said as you then became speechless

Grayson ordered three ice creams for you, him and s/n

You both walked back quietly to the bench, not really knowing what to say after Grayson's comment

You looked into the playground to see if s/n was there to call him out for the ice cream, but he was nowhere in sight

"Grayson" you said and he nodded

"I can't see him either" he muttered, "I'll go left and go right" he said as you both split up looking for s/n

You called out his name and asked nearby people if they had seen your son but they all shook their heads no

You made back around and met Grayson at the same time

"I couldn't find him" you said as your lip trembled and tears threatened to leave your eyes

"Hey, hey, s/n needs you to be strong right now, we'll find him ok, I promise" as he unconsciously kissed your forehead and held you to his chest for a moment, "let's look again"

This time Grayson went right and you went left

Grayson called out the little boy's name but didn't hear a reply back

He looked around until he looked across the street and saw a man taking s/n hand and guiding him to a vehicle

"Hey!" called out Grayson angrily as he rushed over to take s/n back

The guy looked back and picked up the little boy and started running with him in his arms

Grayson was getting tired, but he would never be able to live with himself if he let s/n go without him being able to do all he could

Grayson sprinted even faster and was able to tackle the man down as s/n rolled out of the man's arms

"S/n!" You called out as you neared the forest and saw Grayson tackle a man to the floor

You quickly picked up your child and stepped away

Grayson was able to pin the man down and uncover his face as onlookers started whispering at the scene that was happening before them

The man uncovered was s/n biological father

"He's my son too! I have a right to see him!" yelled out the man as police cars quickly came

"You lost that right when you left us" you said as the police took him away

"Baby, are you ok? What happened?"

"Th-that man said he had candy" cried your little boy on your shoulder as you just nodded and patted his back softly for him to fall asleep

"Grayson!" you called out so he could see you

Grayson ran to you and s/n and hugged you both tightly

"I was just giving my testament to the police, I'm so glad s/n is ok"

"Thank you so much, you have no idea how scared I was"

"Y/N...this may be the wrong time to ask you this, but I'd like to be more involved in yours and s/n life"

"What do you mean?"

"I was wondering...if maybe you'd allow me to be your boyfriend, I promise I'll do my best to make sure you two are happy, I'll love you both so much, I mean, I already do love you both a lot, but-" Grayson rambled, making you chuckle as you placed a quick kiss to his lips, making him stunned

"I would actually like it very much if you'd be more involved in our lives...I really like you and I know s/n would love having you around more"

"Thank you, thank you, I'll protect both of you from anything and anyone, I promise" Grayson said as he hugged you and planted a kiss to your forehead while he ruffled the sleeping little boys head, unaware of how different his life would change for the better
