DINAH

Wednesday evenings were always slow at Tango. But Dinah appreciated the break from the early week rush. It was spring break, so a lot of college kids came in droves as soon as they got off school. Dinah was grateful for the couple hours she got a chance to just breath and wipe down the counter, tabletops, and nearby glasses. Times like this allowed her to step back and just take a breather. She took the time to check and see if anyone had contacted her. She took her phone out and found a text from her roommate, Victoria.

Honeybear

Hey bae! Stopped at the blood bank and stocked up on some more blood bags. They're in the freezer.

See you when you get home! 🤎

The twenty-six-year-old smiled as she sent a quick text back. Like Dinah, Victoria was a vampire. Unlike Dinah, however, she was much older than what she looked. Victoria was born in the nineteenth century, but the full effect of her vampire abilities didn't halt her aging until she turned twenty-seven. That was about three hundred years ago. And yet, there was not a single wrinkle on her pretty face. The brunettes had a lovely friendship since the day they met.

"Hey island girl," Dinah's co-worker, China, said as she unpinned her name tag, "bar's pretty dead tonight. Think you could cover the last few hours of our shift solo? I forgot I'm meeting my sisters for dinner and I gotta get home and get myself ready."

"I got you," Dinah chuckled. "Tell Sierra and Lauryn I said hey."

"Will do," China smiled before kissing the brunette on the cheek and getting her purse. "I'm gonna go let Jackie know that I'm takin' off early."

Dinah grinned at her friend before continuing to clean her surrounding area. As soon as the clock near one of the big screens struck six, in came that handsome face she's looked forward to seeing for the past few months. Her cheeks warmed as soon as their eyes met across the room, the corners of his wrinkling a little as a smile of his own graced his lips. He pocketed his keys as he made his way over to the bar.

"Hey, D," Quincy greeted as he sat in the stool.

"Hey, Q," Dinah replied, "right on time."

The twenty-nine-year-old let out a hushed chuckle as he drank in the brunette's presence. Sure, she wore a different version of the same work uniform every time he saw her, but that never stopped him from seeing her as one of the most beautiful women he's ever laid eyes on. Dinah began to blush as she finished cleaning another empty glass.

"You're doing it again..." she uttered with a smile.

"What?" Quincy asked. "Admiring something beautiful? I told you I had a thing for art."

Dinah chuckled before playfully rolling her eyes. She proceeded to grab his favorite glass before pouring him his bourbon.

"Such a smooth talker," she said. "Honestly, you could bag any woman you want. And yet, you always come here just to talk to me."

"Well," Quincy started, "I think we both can agree that you're not just any woman. And that's the reason I keep coming here. You're different from most women I've come in contact with. I can't put my finger on exactly how, but I just have a feeling."

Dinah smirked as she drunk in his deep, mocha eyes.

"...you have no idea..." she whispered.

"Then let me find out," he answered immediately.
