NORMANI
Normani made her rounds around the estate like she usually did at dusk. Everything was still and calm. She was the only team member left at the estate aside from Daemon, his parents, Halle, and Ty, who were all asleep. She took the time to open her connection with Dinah as she patrolled, the brunette opening up immediately.
"Hey you..." she greeted.
Normani smiled as her pace slowed down.
"Hi, beautiful. How are you? Wasn't expecting you to be up."
"I'm a night owl. You know this."
Both ladies chuckled before the ebony heard her husband's voice.
"What are you guys up to?" Normani asked.
"He's making some last-minute decisions on one of his artist's rollout. He doesn't have to go into work tomorrow so I told him it could wait until the morning."
Normani chuckled.
"He likes to get things done in one sitting. Believe me, you'll appreciate it once Aiden gets older."
She heard Dinah chuckle before hearing her tell Quincy she'd be downstairs. Normani smiled at the sound of the "I love you's" being exchanged. She couldn't wait to say that to both of them.
"Okay, babe," Dinah said. "I'm alone now."
"Same...in this big, empty house with no one to keep me company..."
"Aww...if I could, I'd sneak up there and keep you company all night."
Normani chuckled to herself.
"I would never object to that. But, hey...you wanna talk about what happened earlier today?"
"That conversation you guys had with Halle?"
"Yeah. You broke through both of our connections. That's never happened before."
"It hasn't...I guess I was really worked up. I have nothing against Halle. She's a sweetheart...but how could she think that someone like Daemon deserves redemption? Especially after what he did?"
"Honey, you gotta understand how she was raised. Sirens aren't like most. They ask questions before taking action. That's why her and Daemon haven't slept together...she's been feeling him out this whole time."
"You think we can trust her when the time comes?"
"I do. She'd never do anything to compromise our mission. At the end of the day, she's on our side."
There was a pause before either woman spoke again.
"How are you feeling about everything?" the brunette asked. "Pretty soon, Q and Deya will see you for the first time in a couple years."
Normani smiled at the fact as she continued her patrol of the massive house. Soon, she wouldn't have to hide anymore. She could finally be with her family.
"Honestly..." she said, "...I can't wait. It's way passed time for me to be with them again. The moment will be even more sweet with you and Aiden there to complete our family."
Normani could feel Dinah blushing as they continued their conversation. But there was a sudden shift in the air that caused both women to freeze in their spots.
"Mani..."
"I feel it, too...who else is at the lake house?"
"No one aside from the people who have always been here."
