DINAH

Dinah knocked on the door, her and Quincy standing out in the hallway. She gave Quincy a good luck kiss, one that seemed to make his body relax a little.

"You're gonna do great, babe," she whispered to him.

The two of them locked eyes and smiled. Suddenly, the door opened. There Leona stood, her curly hair forming her face. She smiled big at Dinah before bringing her in for a hug.

"Hey, mom," Dinah smiled as she hugged her mother back.

"Hi, sweetheart," Leona beamed before looking at Quincy. "And hello there! It's lovely to finally put a face to the name."

She took Quincy's hand and shook it before touching her cheek to his in a greeting. Dinah chuckled when she saw the slight shock in Quincy's face at the action. It was so amusing to see how people reacted to how boujee her mother was.

"Quincy," Dinah said, "this is my mother, Leona Lewis. Mom, this is Quincy."

"It's nice to meet you, Mrs. Lewis," Quincy smiled. "These are for you."

"Oh, they're beautiful," she said, accepting the bouquet as she smiled warmly at him. "You didn't have to, love."

"Nonsense," Quincy said. "The pleasure's all mine. Besides, a little birdie told me they were your favorite flowers."

"Well, that little birdie taught you well," Leona said. "Come on inside, you two. I'm going to put these beauties in a vase."

"See?" Dinah said once her mother went to another room. "I told you she'd like you."

She giggled when Quincy let out a quiet sigh. She gave him a peck before taking his hand.

"I thought I heard my baby girl," a voice sounded from the stair well.

Dinah turned around and beamed at her other mother before going over and hugging her.

"Hey, ma!"

"Hey, baby! It's about time you came over for Sunday dinner. It's been too long."

"I know. But hopefully, today makes up for it. This is Quincy. Quincy, this is my mom, Eva Marcille."
