DINAH
"How is today gonna go?"
"Amazing."
"And why?"
"Because today's the day I meet my boyfriend's daughter, and she's gonna fall in love with me."
"There you go!"
Victoria had been giving Dinah pep talks all morning about how today, as well as this entire weekend, was going to be something really special. Today was the day that Quincy came down to the city with Adeya. To say the brunette was nervous was the understatement of the year. She had no problem meeting adults. Kids, however, were a whole different ball game. Kids were intuitive – they could pick up on vibes like a magnet, whether they were good or bad. Dinah found herself wanting to impress the six-year-old, but with good reason. She was her boyfriend's daughter, for one, and if she wanted to have any kind of future with him, she needed to be on good graces with his pride and joy. On the other hand, the little one had lost, from what she gathered from Quincy, a wonderful mother. There was no way she could ever try and replace her, but she wanted to express that she'd eventually be able to be a woman that little Adeya could look up to.
"Don't overthink it," Victoria said. "Today's gonna be amazing. That little girl is gonna love you. Just be yourself. And most of all, have fun! You three are gonna be livin' it up in the city all day! Make the most of it!"
Dinah smiled as Victoria secured her hair in a messy bun. Before long, she felt a buzz in her pocket. She brought out her phone and saw Quincy's text, telling her that him and Adeya just got in the building. She replied, telling him she was on her way down. She looked back up to Victoria and took a deep breath.
"Want a good luck kiss before you go?" the ebony asked, wiggling her eyebrows teasingly.
Dinah scoffed before pausing to think about it.
"Fuck it..." she uttered before bringing her lips to Victoria's.
The ebony giggled against her lips before deepening it, Dinah drawing closer to her to take in one last breath before releasing her lips with a small pop.
"Feel better?" Victoria asked.
"A little," Dinah chuckled. "Thanks for the pep talk...and the kiss."
"You know where to find me if you ever need a little more," Victoria winked. "Now go have a good time!"
Dinah made her way down to the lobby, and when she saw the little six-year-old, she all but melted. Quincy smiled as he walked up to Dinah with Adeya's hand in his.
"That's her, lil' bit," Quincy playfully whispered to her.
The little one smiled wide before going up to the brunette and hugging her. Dinah inwardly cooed before crouching down and smiling back at her.
"Hi cutie! It's so nice to finally meet you. Your dad's told me a lot about you."
Adeya giggled as she nervously moved her body from side to side.
"It's nice to meet you, too," the little one replied. "Daddy told me about you, too. Are you really a vampire?"
Dinah looked up at Quincy, smiling a little as he gave her a nod. She took Adeya's hand and looked directly into her eyes. When she saw the little one's face light up, she knew the auburn specs in her eyes had appeared. The six-year-old let out a giggle before engulfing Dinah in a hug, Dinah hugging her back before picking her up and walking over to Quincy.
