Chapter Twenty-Five

DINAH

Dinah couldn't even fathom the idea of eating before getting a chance to meet the people that created a phenomenal woman such as Normani. She insisted that her and Quincy go over to talk with them before doing anything else. She knew her boyfriend wouldn't put up much of a fight over the matter.

"Oh wow," he said, staring deeply into Dinah's eyes.

"Is there something in my eye?" Dinah said, not yet realizing what her eyes were doing.

"To say the least," Quincy chuckled in amazement. "Your eyes are two different colors. Auburn and ember. I didn't know they could do that."

Dinah smiled knowingly.

"It's rare that it happens," she said. "I guess today's just a really good day."

She blushed at the way Quincy was looking at her. She could feel Normani's presence heavily, though the two were nowhere near each other.

"Can you see him?" Dinah asked the ebony.

"I can..." Normani answered, emotion heavy in her voice.

Dinah suddenly brought her hand to his cheek, him melting into her touch. She knew that Normani had the power to control her bodily functions, but because they didn't explore the depth of this discovery, there was only so much the two could get away with.

"You can't feel him though, can you?" Dinah asked.

"It's okay," Normani answered. "I'm just happy I can see him this way...without having to be far away from him."

Dinah continued to smile at Quincy.

"You ready?" he asked her.

"Yeah," she replied.

The couple made their way over to the Hamiltons. The family embraced him like he was their own flesh and blood. Dinah suddenly felt overwhelmed, Normani's emotions growing stronger with each moment.

"Hey," Dinah said, "it's okay. We got this. Just take deep breaths and enjoy the moment, yeah?"

Dinah smiled when she heard the ebony release a calming breath.

"Okay..." the ebony said, "...I'm ready."

Dinah walked up beside Quincy, smiling happily as all eyes were now on her. The older woman's face lit up as her smile grew.

"Is this..." she said, referring to Quincy.

"Yeah, Mama Drea," Quincy beamed. "This is Dinah. Babe, this is Normani's family. This is Derrick, Andrea, Ashlee, and Arielle."

Dinah smiled at all of them, trying her best to keep Normani's emotions from overriding hers at the mere sight of them.

"It's amazing to meet you all," the brunette said.

Andrea smiled and brought Dinah in for a hug, the embrace warm and inviting. She only wished that Normani was able to feel it.

"It's wonderful to meet you, baby," Andrea said. "Quincy's told us so much about you."

"All good things I hope," Dinah chuckled.

"So good," Derrick chimed in, "he minus well have written a book. Nice to meet you, young lady."

Dinah's heart grew at the sound of Normani's laughter.

"I hope this isn't too overwhelming," Arielle said.
