QUINCY
"DADDY!!!!"
Adeya ran with all her might to hug her dad as he crouched down to catch her.
"Hey lil' bit!" he chuckled as he held her close. "You have a good weekend with Ronnie?"
"Yes! We watched a lot of movies. And we had stuffed crust pizza every night!"
"Wow, sounds like you had plenty of fun away from daddy, huh?"
The six-year-old giggled before hugging Quincy tight.
"Yeah, but I still missed you, though."
"Aww, I missed you too, baby girl."
Luke honked the horn as him and Justine waved goodbye to Quincy and Adeya. The two waved back before making their way inside the house. Quincy set his daughter's overnight back on the living room floor before sitting down on the couch with her in his lap facing him.
"So," he began, "daddy has some news."
"Are we moving again?" Adeya asked with a somber look.
"No, baby, you don't gotta worry about moving anywhere else for a long time."
The little one smiled and nodded.
"So, daddy went on a date this weekend."
"Really?" Adeya asked, her eyes wide. "Is she pretty like mommy?"
"Very," he answered with a smile. "And she's just as sweet. And she can't wait to meet you. The thing is, though...she's a vampire."
"But she's not one of the bad ones, right?"
"Right. She has pretty, brown hair, has eyes just like yours, and she's a real-life Moana."
Adeya gasped, giving her dad her undivided attention. Quincy laughed as he bopped her nose.
"The relationship is really new, but daddy likes her very much. And I would love for the two of you to meet soon. Would that be okay with you?"
Adeya nodded her enthusiastically. Quincy felt at ease knowing his daughter knew the truth and still wanted to meet the brunette. He had no doubts that she would like her.
"What's her name?" she asked.
"Dinah. Dinah Jane."
"That's so pretty! Just like mama's name! When do I get to meet her?"
"I can see if she'd like to come over this weekend. Would you like that? We could spend the whole weekend together. Start off with going to the aquarium and then see what happens next?"
"Yes, please!"
Quincy smiled as he watched his daughter's eyes gleam. Her excitement was something that always made him feel good.
"I'll see what I can do," he said. "In the meantime, let's get dinner started. You up for lasagna?"
"Ooo! Can I help cook?"
"Of course! Let's do it."
The next day...
It was another productive workday at Q-Music Studios. Quincy sat in on numerous sessions – some with well-known artists, some with underground artists. In a few months, there would be a couple of albums due to be released under his label, and he was excited to discuss tours, promotion, and special appearances for his artists.
