DINAH
"Then, your mommy practically ripped my stomach open!" Kehlani exclaimed to Aiden as she bounced him on his lap.
"I did not," Dinah laughed. "It was just a scratch. Besides, you won the first match."
Aiden cooed happily at the two women's banter as Victoria and Halle busied themselves with dinner. Adeya played with water particles that Chloe conjured up from the air all the while. Ty had gone back to HQ to help Khalid with cleaning the space after the battle, which would take all day. It was nice for Dinah to be back in her apartment. It felt like she hadn't been there in so long since everything happened. That sense of familiarity was comforting for her, especially while waiting for what would come of Normani and Quincy's reunion.
While she was happy that the two would be able to see one another again, she was also anxious about what would come of her and Quincy's relationship. The two were getting serious. The man had asked her to move in, and she was going to say yes. She knew she had a future with him. And once she met Normani, she knew that, somehow, she had a future with her as well.
"Hey," Chloe said, inching her way over to the brunette. "What you thinkin' about?"
"Everything," Dinah chuckled. "I want our situation to work. But the longer I wait around, the more doubt seems to creep into my mind. We went through so much to get to this point...I don't know what I'd do if Aiden and I were left alone after all this."
"Aw, come on, now," Chloe said. "We all know neither Mani, nor Q would ever leave you and that precious little baby to fend for yourselves. They love ya'll too much. The same confidence you had going into this, is the same confidence you need to see it through. Everything will work out."
The siren brought a kiss to Dinah's forehead, causing her body to relax. What Chloe said was true. The brunette needed to see this thing through and have faith that everything would work out for her and Aiden. After a while, the table was set for dinner. Chloe helped with getting the children situated before sitting beside her sister, Kehlani by Victoria. Just before Dinah was about to make Adeya's plate, her eyes began to glow, feeling that familiar sense. It was Quincy. Her body began to buzz before looking to the door right as three knocks were heard. She got up to answer it, and there he stood – skin as radiant as ever, eyes gleaming in a new, copper hue. He was definitely a changed man, now. She was beside herself when he smiled at her.
"Hey, beautiful," he greeted.
"Hey, you," she responded.
She allowed him to pull her in before their lips met in a lingering kiss. She melted against him as he only seemed to hold her tighter. Once the kiss ended, the two looked at each other longingly.
"How'd it go?" Dinah asked.
"Good," Quincy answered. "She told me everything. It was...a lot."
The two chuckled before Quincy continued.
"But, with everything that happened, it still doesn't change the way I feel about you. I still want you and Aiden in my life. With me, Mani, and Deya. I still have questions, but one thing I know for certain...is that Mani and I can't live without you..."
Dinah's eyes glossed over as she looked into the man's eyes. No amount of turning could take away the sincerity in them. He really loved her. And she really loved him. She brought him in for another kiss before speaking.
"I saw your letter in the baby's bag, by the way."
Quincy's eyebrows shot up in anticipation.
"So..." he said, "...what do you think?"
"Of course, my answer is yes."
She giggled joyously as Quincy scooped her up in his arms in celebration.
"Well then..." he continued, "...since you and 'lil man will be moving in...I think it's time to show you that surprise I mentioned before..."
Dinah watched as Quincy brought a tiny box out of his back pocket. When he opened it, the tears that she was holding back began to flow freely. It was the most charming, emerald and gold betrothal ring. It held an enchantment in its design that only ignited once Quincy put the ring on Dinah's finger.
Once it was on, the couples' eyes suddenly held emerald green specs in them. That's when their connection with Normani opened.
"Our souls are tied for eternity, now..." the ebony said, "...even through death..."
Dinah released an emotional laugh as she buried herself against Quincy's chest, Quincy smiling as he held her close.
"Thank you..." Quincy uttered, "...both of you...for loving me enough to keep me here..."
Dinah looked up at her husband before he went in for a kiss.
"...ready to go home?"
"Yes please," Dinah smiled.
Her and Quincy went inside, only to find everyone smiling at them with tearful eyes. The brunette couldn't help but laugh at the sight. Of course, they were listening the whole time. Adeya's eyes widened as she rushed her way to Quincy, the man scooping her up and attacking her with kisses. He then held Aiden in his other arm, kissing his cheek as the little one giggled from contact. As expected, their eyes now held emerald specs as well. Dinah had gotten what she always prayed for...
...a family...
