QUINCY

Quincy's body jolted forward as he desperately gasped for air. The last thing the man remembered was getting stabbed with a knife by some guy he never met. But what really stuck with him was the sight of his girlfriend next to...his wife? The ebony was right there, staring at him in such distraught. And she had black streaks under her eyes...like she was possessed or something. She looked so real – as if he could touch her had he taken one step.

"She's gone..." Quincy thought to himself.

Sitting up a little more in his bed, he looked down to see his side was completely healed of its wound. He touched the very spot before getting overwhelmed with the intensity of his senses. He could suddenly see, hear, and feel everything with much more clarity than he ever could. He felt different all around. It wasn't until he got up to look at himself in the mirror that he registered his eyes being a totally different color – pure copper. He walked closer to his reflection, touching his cheek bone to get a better look at his pupils. They were like Dinah's – shiny, gleaming with sparkles as their copper hue glowed under the sun.

"What the fuck..." he said aloud.

"It's something you get used to pretty quickly..."

Quincy froze in his spot at the sound of an all too familiar voice echoing in his head. His heart skipped several beats at the light, airy tone that he hadn't heard in years. His breathing picked up a little as his hand went straight to his head. He was beginning to panic.

"You're not going crazy. I promise. All you have to do is turn around..."

As much as he didn't understand what was happening, he obeyed and slowly turned around. The sight before him nearly brought him to his knees. It was her...it was really her...she was physically in front him, smiling at him like she did the very day they met. Her eyes were the prettiest color of ember – the same shade he saw in that set of eyes that were waiting for Dinah to take her to the Poconos. It made sense now – why they were staring at him so intently that day. It was her.

"...Mani?" he asked, his voice cracking as the lump in his throat grew the closer he stepped to her.

The ebony's smile grew as her eyes began to gloss over.

"Hi, baby..." she greeted.

Quincy brought his hand to her cheek hesitantly, just to make sure she was real. When he felt her warmth, he all but broke down as he fell to his knees with her in his embrace. He held her tight as his cries echoed throughout the room. He felt Normani caress him as her tears touched the side of his face.

"You..." Quincy whimpered, "...you died...you were gone...we were so lost without you..."

"I'm so sorry I left you," Normani cried. "I had no choice. If it was up to me, I would've come back. But I had to stay away to keep you and Deya safe..."

Quincy allowed his wife to take a soft hold of his face so they could lock eyes, ember meeting copper. All he could do was marvel at how beautiful Normani still was as she ran her fingers through his hair, touching her nose to his. Without uttering a word, he brought her in for a kiss – one so desperate that it had the couple breathing in deeply upon contact.

"I promise, I'll explain everything," Normani uttered against his lips as they continued their kiss.

"Later," Quincy said breathlessly. "Right now, I need you..."

He gave the ebony no time to protest as he picked her up and brought her to the bed. Their lips never detached as Quincy immediately aided in ridding Normani of her clothes, her ridding him of his sweats. He melted against her touch as his lips traveled across the plains of her skin. Once he got to her pussy, he wasted no time in acquainting his lips with it.
