Chan sat there quietly, watching TV and eating a bowl of strawberries on the couch. He looked up to see Felix groggily walking into the living room. "Thank you again for helping me with all that work last night." Felix said, yawning loudly and stretching out his back. The boy's shirt lifting up to expose his belly. Chan gulped, eyes quickly averting from the sight of his exposed abs.

"Don't mention it." Chan nervously smiled.

"So I got a weird text from Changbin last night." Felix cringed in disgust, sitting down next to Chan. He sat a little too close for Chan's liking, their thighs pressing together due to the close contact.

"W-what did he say?" Chan asked, trying to remained focused on the TV screen.

"The fucking freak asked me out on a date." Felix cringed even more, digging his hand into the bowl to grab some strawberries. Chan felt his heart pang in jealousy. He knew Changbin would never have a chance with him, but the thought of somebody else liking Felix made him uneasy.

"What did you say?" Chan questioned, trying to ignore the fact that Felix was now resting his head on Chan's shoulder, eyes fixed onto the TV screen as well.

"I said no of course! I'm not fucking gay! That freak should know better." Felix said in disgust, putting his hand on Chan's thigh and using it as leverage to help himself get off the couch. Chan's body shuddered at the fact that Felix barely missed his crotch.

"Gays are so gross! Like do I look gay to you?"

Yes Chan's mind screamed.

"No, of course not!" Chan said, still trying to recollect himself from Felix's reckless touching, something he has been doing a little bit too much as of recent.

"Exactly. So why does Changbin keep trying to get with me? Can't the homo take a hint?" The blonde scowled, groaning and walking into the kitchen to make himself a thing of iced coffee.

"If he keeps flirting with me I am going to report him to Minho for acting unprofessional in a work setting." Felix said while rummaging through the fridge.

"Don't you think that's a bit much? He could get fired." Chan asked the irritated blonde. "Good! That homo won't be able to flirt with me anymore and bother me while at work!" Felix smiled happily at the thought.

"Can you chill with the homo word? It gets old after a while, Lix." The older man groaned, pausing his movie and going to the kitchen to grab more strawberries.

"I could use the word fa-"

"Enough! Homo is fine." Chan snapped. He would've preferred Felix use no words, but homo was a lot better than other words he could use. Chan knew that if he tried to stop Felix from his endless rants about gays or to stop him from using slurs, Felix would start a war with him.

The blonde was so small yet full of so much hatred and rage, it was almost scary to Chan. Felix was never so hateful. When he met Felix, the boy was always so full of life and was always happy and loving towards almost everybody he met.

All of that changed when his parents started arguing. The day Chan met Felix, he met him while exploring the woods and running to a little lake he used to hang out near when he was little.

Felix was crying the day they first met, Chan was 10 at the time and Felix was 8. Felix had just moved to the neighborhood a week before they met, and found Chan's hideout one day when he was running away to escape from his parent's fighting.

Chan promised Felix he would be his best friend and keep him safe, and Felix gladly accepted his offer, given he never had a friend before.

When they were little, Felix was happy even though his parents fought nonstop for years. He was oblivious to everything going on, all the way up until he couldn't be anymore.

The young boy started growing more hateful when they got into middle school, his sudden attitude change only getting worse from there. Chan remembered asking Felix countless times what was going on and if there was anything he could do to help his best friend feel better, only for Felix to push him away and say everything was okay.

Chan knew that was far from the case, especially when he stopped by Felix's house one night to overhear an argument between his best friend's parents. That just so happened to be the same night Felix's mother kicked his dad out of the house.

That night Felix cried loudly in Chan's arms, it was also the same night Chan fell in love with him, realizing that Felix was the only thing worth protecting in this world.

As time passed between the two boys, Felix grew colder, meaner, and harsher towards just about everybody he knew, only remaining somewhat nice to Chan and his mother.

Chan's feelings only grew for Felix as time passed, as did Felix's hatred towards a specific group of people.

Chan found out Felix's hatred towards gay people when they were sitting together watching a show a few months after his dad got kicked out of the house.

There were to males on the screen kissing and holding hands. Felix quickly shut the TV off, screaming and acting as if he had just seen something horrendous. "Ew! Gays! Homos!" The young nieve boy screamed. Hearing such words broke Chan's young love stricken heart.

Things only got worse from there. Every time a flamboyant man walked into the room simply minding their business, Felix would make a negative comment, or make fun of them and laugh about it.

Chan wasn't sure how to react to all of the negativity that brewed deep inside his best friend. Chan kept his mouth shut about the subject, never inputting his opinion in fear of Felix finding out his secret and breaking off their friendship.

He spent years listening to the blonde's extreme hatred for gays, things only getting worse the older they got.

"Are you even listening to me?!" Felix said, snapping his fingers in Chan's face. The older boy shook his head, locking eyes with his stunningly cute best friend. "What?" He questioned.

"We are out of coffee creamer. I need you to go to the store and get some for me." Felix demanded. Chan sighed, slipping on his slides and grabbing his wallet and keys, not even bothering to change out of his pajamas.

"Anything else you need?" Chan asked.

"A pack of cigarettes would be great. Thanks!" Felix smiled, waving Chan off, not paying him any more attention.

"Smoking kills!" Chan shouted before walking out of their apartment and driving to their local grocery store. He hated how he took orders from Felix like some dog. He only tolerated it because he loved him though.

He loved his homophobic, demanding, cigarette smoking best friend more than anything.
