Chan huffed, the pain slowly subsiding. He got up quickly, grabbing his keys and rushing out of the house to avoid being anymore late. He quickly drove to the local café that him and Hyunjin often went to back when they were younger.
He quickly made his way inside, nose being filled with the smell of coffee and sweet pastries. He smiled when he locked eyes on a busy Hyunjin. A cute pout rested on his face while he tapped away on his phone screen, playing a game.
"I'm so sorry I'm late!" Chan said, quickly grabbing a seat in front of his ex boyfriend.
"Holy shit!" Hyunjin said, clutching onto his heart for dear life. "You scared the fuck out of me!" The younger male said, giggling once he collected his bearings.
"Why were you late? Was it Felix?" Hyunjin jokingly asked, though there was a noticeable glint of jealousy behind those beautiful chocolate brown orbs.
"When isn't it Felix?" Chan huffed, picking up a menu off the table and looking over all the new drinks they had. A small smile rested on his face when he noticed Hyunjin decided to wait for him before ordering.
"What happened this time?"Hyunjin asked, eyes skimming up and down the menu. "I can't believe they added so many new drinks!" He giggled before giving the older man all his attention. The older male nervously bit his lip. His first instinct was to tell Hyunjin the truth, yet for some reason telling him what happened seemed wrong. He couldn't let him know about the kiss or any of it.
"O-oh, he was throwing a tantrum about the car today. He even kicked me in my stomach." Chan said, words growing bitter at the last part.
"I really don't understand why you let him treat you that way. It's been so long and he's so cruel to you." Hyunjin frowned, sadness laced in his sweet voice.
"I guess old habits die hard." The older man awkwardly giggled, leaving them in a silence that was almost uncomfortable.
"Well enough about all that! Do you see all the new shit they added?!" The long haired male said in hopes of brightening the mood. Chan smiled back at him, admiring the way Hyunjin's eyes formed crescents when he smiled. His smile was one Chan couldn't even get tired of, even after six years.
"I know right! Like, when did they add peppermint hot chocolate?" The older man asked.
"Well I mean it is getting close to Christmas time." Hyunjin shrugged. Chan could only smile at him. Both boys ordered their drinks and food before going back to having a conversation with one another once more.
"I haven't been here in years." Chan laughed, looking around and observing all the changes that happened to the place since he had last been. They had painted the walls a new color and completely remodeled the whole place. Their drinks and food were just as good as Chan remembered though.
"You're telling me." Hyunjin smiled, taking a sip out of his peppermint hot chocolate while admiring Chan and his beauty. The younger man was not over Chan, even after all the years that had passed. Even after Chan lied to him.
Chan turned his attention back onto the taller male across from him, causing him to look away and blush.
"Were you just staring at me?" Chan smirked, causing Hyunjin to giggle nervously.
"How could I not?" The younger man said, running his hair through his long locks with one hand. Chan bit his lip, he had forgotten how good looking Hyunjin was. He was hot when they were younger, but he somehow managed to get hotter after six years.
The two men sat and talked for what felt like hours, catching up, and lowkey flirting with one another every now and then. Their time however was cut short by the loud ringing of Chan's phone. The older man sighed, pulling it out of his pocket to see that it was Felix calling.
"Excuse me." Chan politely said, getting up and walking outside. Hyunjin frowned, watching the older man disappear outside.
"What do you want?" Chan asked once answering the call.
"Why have you been out so long? It's been like two hours." The angry blonde's voice boomed through the phone.
"What do you need?" Chan asked, rolling his eyes to himself as he paced back and fourth.
"I'm hungry and I am out of cigarettes." The blonde snapped. Chan knew Felix was lying. He knew Felix was being needy. The blonde found every excuse he could in order to get Chan's attention focused on him and only him. He's been like that for years.
"What do you want me to get you?" Chan said, annoyed that Felix had ruined his outing with Hyunjin.
"Anything, I don't care. Don't forget my cigarettes either." The blonde demanded, hanging up before Chan could even respond. The older man sighed, walking back into the café to be met with the smiling beauty named Hyunjin.
"As much as I hate to cut things short, I have to go. I am so sorry." Chan said, taking notice of Hyunjin's face. He looked disappointed, yet forced a smile anyway. "Oh, well that's okay. Is everything okay?" He asked concerned.
"Yes everything is okay. I just need to get Felix some food. He hasn't been home in a week, so I haven't been able to go grocery shopping." Chan said in annoyance. "Damn thief stole my car for a whole week and didn't even have the courtesy to fill my tank." The older man rolled his eyes. If Felix had one thing, it was audacity.
Hyunjin forced a smile, heart hurting each time he heard Felix's name. He hated how Chan dropped everything for Felix. He always came first, some things just never change. "I guess you were right when you said old habits die hard." Hyunjin laughed, trying his best to not sound bitter over the whole situation.
"I guess so." The older man laughed, pulling Hyunjin in a tight hug. "It was really nice seeing you, maybe we can meet up again later today or tomorrow?" He asked, sparking a bit of hope in Hyunjin. Maybe he actually felt the same way?
The younger man accepted his offer immediately, telling him that he would be free later on tonight. They both said their goodbyes and while Hyunjin watched Chan's figure disappear, he couldn't help but feel giddy. He just couldn't wait.
