Chan had left countless texts and voicemails on Felix's phone. It was 4 in the morning and the blonde had still not made it back home.
Not only was Chan worried, but he was also pissed. Felix took his car without any warning, leaving him with no way to work which just so happened to be in four more hours.
Chan lightly tapped his foot, pressing on Felix's contact name for the 15th time in the last 20 minutes. He sighed when his call went straight to voicemail. The ringing had stopped meaning the blonde's phone either died or he intentionally turned it off.
Chan groaned loudly in annoyance, slamming his phone down onto his bedside table and laying down under the covers of his thick red duvet.
He closed his eyes, desperate that this unsettling feeling of anxiety and emptiness would go away. He hoped to fall asleep, tossing and turning like a mad man for nearly an hour before he peeled the covers off of his body.
He was upset because he had pushed a boundary he had no business meddling with. He was frustrated because he had work in less than three hours and he has not gotten a wink of sleep.
His delicate fingers traced over his lips, remembering the feeling of his best friend's soft ones against his.
Chan felt confused though he was certain of the truth now. Felix was gay or bi or whatever. Chan didn't care for labelling his best friend, especially since he had no right to do so, but he knew now that Felix liked men with 100% certainty.
The man he loved for years had kissed him. The same man who claimed to have such a strong hatred towards homosexuals.
The older man's thought process was clouded by so many emotions. It was hard to piece together everything that has happened today. He was too mentally exhausted to even attempt to piece the puzzle together currently, so instead of worrying about it, he shut down those thoughts.
He got up from his bed, hopping in the shower and washing his thick brown hair and body, mind completely blank.
Chan often struggled with such dilemmas. He could shut down his feelings if he needed to in order to preserve his own sanity. That's why it's always been so easy to hide his feelings for Felix for so long. He had a shield that he used whenever he wanted or needed to. It was always so conveniently there whenever he needed it most.
Chan mindlessly dried off his body, putting on his work attire two hours early and pouring himself a cup of hot coffee. His phone remained silent. There were no texts or calls from Felix. None to even let him know if he was okay or not.
Chan knew he was more than likely at his mom's right now, probably sleeping in his old childhood room peacefully. Chan scoffed at the thought. Maybe he should've just remained quiet about the whole thing. All of this could've been avoided if he had just kept his mouth quiet and minded his own business.
Felix often ran to his mother's house whenever they argued, taking Chan's car of course because he refused to buy his own since it was a 'waste of money' in his eyes.
Chan stared blankly at his tv for the remaining hour before he had to leave. He grabbed his phone, sighing upon being reminded of the fact that there weren't any notifications from Felix.
He dialed Minho's number, feeling relieved to hear his friend's sweet voice on the other line.
"Hey, Chan. What's up?" His boss asked, concerned as to why he was calling at such an early hour.
The older man sighed, running a hand through his damp hair that had yet to dry fully. "Could you give me a ride to work? Felix took my car without asking and hasn't been back since." The older man questioned, walking to the bathroom and taking note of his reflection.
"Of course. Is everything okay between you two?" Minho asked, voice laced with concern.
"I'll explain it once you get here, promise." Chan said, looking at the dark bags under his eyes and sighing loudly.
"Oh, okay. Well please take things easy. I'll be there in a few minutes." His boss reassured.
"Thanks." Chan blandly said, trying his best to sound polite and thankful, only to fail miserably. He quickly ended the call, rummaging through Felix's makeup drawer and pulling out a tube of concealer.
He lazily applied a light layer of makeup under his eyes, blending it generously onto his skin to help reduce the dark circles under his tired eyes. He set it with some powder and made his way outside, sitting patiently on the steps as he waited for Minho in the cold winter air.
He check his phone. Felix still remained quiet, not a single response even though he also had work today as well. They both had the same exact schedule so he knew he would be seeing Felix once he stepped into work.
Chan smiled softly when he saw Minho's car pull into the apartment complex. His teeth chattered from the cold air swallowing him whole. He quickly hopped into the passenger side of Minho's expensive BMW, thankful that the car was warm on the inside.
"You didn't have to sit outside and wait. I would've called you once i got here." Minho said, raising a brow at his friend before driving off to the law firm.
"I figured it would help wake me up since i didn't get any damn sleep last night." Chan said, rolling his eyes to himself.
"Well that's smart and all, but your hair is wet. That's how you catch a cold." Minho scolded before sighing and asking Chan what was going on.
"I didn't get any sleep last night because me and Felix had gotten into an argument." The older man said, pulling down the visor and checking his makeup in the mirror. He never wore makeup, but he figured he needed it today since he looked horrible from lack of sleep.
"That's nothing new, but what happened? Did anything interesting happen?" His boss questioned.
"Well I took your advice and figured I would take a more invasive approach towards getting the answers I wanted and it worked." Chan bitterly laughed. "Boy did it fucking work."
"What happened?" Minho asked.
"Well apparently he hasn't blown Changbin off and I called him out for it and all his other questionable behaviors and he got extremely upset. Right when I was going to tell him I thought he was gay he-" Chan stopped, nervously biting his lip at the memory. Minho was listening intently, eyes glued to the roads of Seoul while he drove to their work.
"He?" Minho asked.
"He kissed me." Chan forced out, somehow uncomfortable with saying it out loud.
Minho slammed on his brakes, locking shocked eyes with Chan's tired and empty ones. "What?!" Minho yelled before continuing his drive to work.
"Yes, I know. The kiss got extremely heated and right before we could go any further he pushed me away and punched me really hard. He then said that it was me who kissed him when he was the one who made the first move. It's fucking bullshit." Chan sighed, resting his head on the car window, watching all the buildings quickly pass by.
"W-woah..." The younger man said. "I didn't think a guy like him would do something like that." He continued, pulling into the law firm parking lot and getting out of the car, Chan following suit. He noticed his car was parked on the opposite end of the parking lot. Felix was here.
He began growing uneasy, Minho noticing his even worse change in mood. He looked towards the direction Chan was, noticing the familiar deep red of his friend's car.
"Let's go." Minho smiled softly, resting a gentle hand on Chan's shoulder and guiding him to the building.
"You think you'll be okay today?" Minho asked, worried for his best friend's mental health.
"I should be okay. Thank you for always having my back. We'll talk more about this later." Chan said, smiling and getting onto the elevator.
His heart raced as he watched the numbers increase.
Floor 1... Floor 3... Floor 5...
The door slowly opened, revealing the clear view of his and Felix's cubicles. His heart pounded loudly, noticing the familiar blonde head of hair sitting in it's respectable spot. He didn't know how today was going to end, but he feared of what the possibilities held.
