"Why would you feel bad? Jisung questioned.
"Why wouldn't I? I was so mean to you guys..." Felix shamefully said, looking down at the hand that still rested on his thigh. Minho and Jisung only smiled, calling out to Felix to gain his attention.
"We don't care about all that." Minho spoke, reassuring the blonde. It felt weird having his boss talk to him as if they were friends. It felt nice yet so foreign at the same time. This is the most they've ever spared each other outside of their work setting.
"It's okay my love." Chan reassured, lightly squeezing his boyfriend's thigh. Felix only smiled, sparing Minho and Jisung smiles as well. "I feel like I should apologize- I never really did." Felix tensed, apologizing was never his cup of tea, neither was admitting that he was a problem but he knew better.
"I-" Felix sucked in a deep breath, growing embarrassed by the situation at hand. "I am sorry for all the stuff I have said..." Felix breathed out. Both men smiled at him, accepting his apology immediately. Felix was grateful that they were so accepting, something he hadn't been for the longest time. Part of him felt like he genuinely didn't deserve their kindness so easily.
Chan had always boosted about how kind both Minho and Jisung were, but Felix had always been too blind by his own hatred to believe him. Felix has no doubt now that Chan was right, both men were so kind and accepting.
They ordered their food, chattering away about life and such while they ate. Felix felt tense the whole time, but Chan being by his side made everything much easier.
"Guess what!" Jisung happily said, pulling out his phone and scrolling through it to search for something.
"Hyunjin is dating Jeongin now! Remember him?" Minho's boyfriend questioned, showing Chan a picture of the two on their Instagram. Felix snuck a peak, curiosity and jealousy being brought into play. The two men were kissing and the caption read, "Happier than ever <3".
Chan smiled happily at the two, happy Hyunjin finally found the love and happiness he deserved. Felix on the other hand felt jealousy boil in the pit of his stomach at the mention of Hyunjin. He squeezed Chan's hand lightly, trying his best to calm himself.
"I didn't know he was with Jeongin. It's been so long since I heard from him." Chan spoke, carrying on the conversation.
"I know! Jeongin kinda fell off the planet for the longest time! I remember he used to always talk about Hyunjin constantly and how much he liked him." Jisung spoke, completely unaware of Felix's jealous tendencies.
"But then again, who didn't talk about how much they liked Hyunjin." Jisung added in. Felix bit his lip, jealousy growing more. His squeezes on Chan's hand getting progressively more tighter. Chan took notice of this immediately, locking eyes with an unsettled Felix.
"Everybody liked him back then, I swear!" Jisung continued, oblivious to the thick air building up between the four men. Minho was picking up on what was happening, aware of Felix's feelings thanks to those late night talks with Chan.
Jisung continued to ramble, too busy to notice how tense the topic made Felix feel.
"Jisung-" Minho called out, shoving him lightly.
"What?" He asked, oblivious to what was happening.
"Let's change the subject, yeah?" Minho suggested, sparing Felix and Chan reassuring looks before offering small smiles. Jisung examined both Chan and Felix, growing more aware of why the blonde was upset.
"Fuck! I'm so sorry! I-I forgot..." He quickly apologized, forgetting about Chan and Hyunjin's history with one another. Felix let out a huge sigh, grip only remaining tight on Chan's hand. He felt like crying, jealousy clouding any other emotion at the moment.
All three men desperately tried shifting the topic, the mood slowly getting better while the time passed. Felix still felt on edge, barely taking bites of his food while he sat deep in thought. He tried his hardest to remain focused on the topics at hand, but he was too upset to care.
"I think it's time." Chan said, catching attention of all three males.
"Time for what?" Felix asked, concerned that maybe something was wrong. The older man didn't respond, taking Felix's wrist in his hold, guiding him onto his feet. Minho and Jisung's faces held big smiles, happy for what was about to come.
Even though Felix was upset, this moment was the perfect moment. This moment would cheer him up, reassure him that every fear he felt wasn't necessary. This moment would show Felix just how much Chan loved him, regardless of Hyunjin or anybody else.
"W-what's going on?" Felix asked, watching Minho sneakily pass Chan a small box. His heart began to grow unsteady, anxiety sitting in the pit of his stomach. The older man grabbed Felix's hands, looking him deeply in the eyes.
Felix didn't know how to feel about the attention they were gaining from others at the restaurant. His anxiety only grew when all eyes were on them.
"Felix." Chan called out, smiling happily at his boyfriend. Felix couldn't help but smile back, even though he felt nervous, that smile always made his feel better. All the looks they were receiving were judgement free and overwhelmingly positive, making Felix feel a bit better at the moment.
"I have loved you since we were kids. I remember the day I fell in love with you. You were in an extremely dark place then, and I promised myself to always be by your side regardless of how hard things got." Chan said, letting out a small chuckled.
"And believe me, they have definitely gotten hard." Chan jokingly said, making Felix giggle. He felt tears brew in his eyes, almost certain of where this was going. Jisung had pulled out his phone at this point, recording the moment with a bright smile on his face.
"I spent my whole life with you, and I want to continue doing just that with you. I want to have a family with you, I want to grow old together, I want to be by your side till our final moments in this world." The older man continued, words flying so effortlessly off of his tongue, regardless of how nervous he truly was. The brunette got down on one knee, pulling out the small box Minho snuck him.
Felix covered his face with both hands, tears rapidly falling while he cried. His heart raced, cheeks glowing red while Chan got ready to ask the question he already knew his answer to.
"We've gone through so much just to get to this point. I wouldn't want this with anybody else, so with that being said, will you Lee Felix be my forever and always? Will you do me the favor of making me the happiest man on earth and marry me?" Chan asked, opening the box that contained a silver ring with small jewels on it.
Many people were smiling like idiots, waiting patiently for Felix's answer. The blonde usually hated having all this attention on him, but he didn't mind in this moment. Tears fell from his eyes, makeup getting ruined while he cried.
"You asshole." Felix giggled through sobs, lightly hitting Chan's shoulder. All the bad thoughts had quickly been replaced with positive thoughts. Nothing else mattered but Chan.
"Y-you know I hate when my makeup gets ruined." He smiled, wiping the tears with his sleeves.
"I-I would love to marry you!" Felix cried out loudly, happier than words could describe. Chan slid the ring on quickly before pulling the blonde into a kiss, clapping being heard from all around the room.
"Take notes." Jisung said to Minho, elbowing his boyfriend who could only roll his eyes and smile.
Regardless of all the pain and heartache both men endured to get to this point, both of them knew it was worth all the blood, sweat, and tears. Chan would've never expected to be marrying his homophobic best friend, but things really do change when you least expect it. Felix knew how gay this all was of course, but he couldn't care less. He was happy, and wouldn't go back to his old ways if his life depended on it.
THE END.
