Chapter 42

Chan and Felix walked into the dining room, a nervous aura surrounding them both.

"Is Mr. Choi almost back yet?" Chan asked, questioning where the woman's boyfriend was.

"He's just down the street." She smiled, eyes locking onto her son.

"Is everything okay?" She frowned, worried on why they disappeared for such a long time.

"Everything is okay." Chan smiled in response. "He's just worried because he forgot to turn something in for work." The brunette lied. He spared a look in Felix's direction, the blonde nervously biting on his lips.

"I-I don't want to get fired." Felix added in to make the lie seem more believable.

"Honey, I don't think that'll happen. You work hard and that handsome boss of yours seems very easy going." His mom reassured, setting the table and food down in front of the two men. Felix forced out a smile, nodding while watching the older woman walk to and from the kitchen.

"Do you need any help Ms. Lee?" Chan asked, watching the woman go back and forth like a mad man.

"Thank you honey, but I am okay." She smiled, sparing a look in Felix's direction. "If only Felix was as kind to ask his mother if she needed help." She giggled, causing Felix to scoff and roll his eyes.

"It's because Chan is an ass kisser." Felix retorted.

"The best ass kisser out there." Chan winked once the older woman made her 4th round to the kitchen. "D-don't say stuff like that!" Felix blushed a deep red, slapping his boyfriend in the arm.

"You boys are something else." The woman giggled once more, setting down the final few plates of food while taking her seat. Mr. Choi walked into the door soon after, carrying bags while greeting them.

"Hey guys!" He happily said, sparing smiles towards everybody in the room.

"Let me help you with those." Chan said, getting up from his seat quickly to help the struggling man. Felix couldn't help but admire how Chan was always so good with his family. Felix's whole family adored Chan, that was one thing he was grateful for. It would make this whole coming out ordeal much easier.

Chan helped the older man with the bags, all of them finally sitting down to enjoy their meal Ms. Lee worked so hard to prepare. Chan glanced at Felix, eyes locking onto a stressed out blonde who was nervously chewing on his lips. It was getting closer to that moment and Felix was internally panicking.

"Eat up." Ms. Lee smiled, grabbing herself a plate of food. Everybody began serving themselves, making small talk while they did so. "What would you like?" Chan asked Felix upon grabbing a plate. The blonde felt his face heat up at the kind gesture. He used the sleeve of his oversized sweater to hide his burning cheeks before talking, "A-a little of everything please." He choked out, trying not to be obvious.

Chan only smiled at him, taking small servings of everything before handing the blonde his plate. They all served themselves, talking away happily while Felix internally panicked. He kicked Chan in the ankle, signaling he wanted the older man to break the ice.

"Say something." Felix whispered. Chan nodded, taking a deep breath in before letting it out slowly. It was his turn to feel a bit nervous now.

"So guys-" Chan called out, getting the attention of both adults.

"There's been something i've been meaning to tell all of you..." Chan trailed off, sparing looks at the couple then to Felix.

"I'm gay." He forced out, examining the expressions of Mr. Choi and Ms. Lee. He was nervous, but not nearly as nervous as Felix was.

"That's- wow!" Ms. Lee spoke, letting out a small smile before continuing on with her meal.

"You are a wonderful man Chan. I'm glad you felt comfortable enough to share this with us." She spoke while taking small bites of food.

"We are both proud of you for having the courage to come out." Mr. Choi smiled. Chan let out a sigh of relief, looking at Felix who was as red as a tomato. He looked like he was getting ready to explode any minute.

"Felix?" Ms. Lee questioned upon seeing her son. She had thought that maybe Felix wasn't aware and that the blonde was going to pick a fight with Chan.

"You're- okay with it?" Felix forced out, surprised at the rather calm reaction to Chan's words.

"Yes." She spoke once more, raising a brow.

"R-really?" Felix choked, tears forming in his eyes.

"Why wouldn't I be? Just because your father ended up being gay, doesn't mean I'll hate other people who are gay too." She softly spoke, stunning Felix even more. Chan watched the whole thing unfold, he wasn't as surprised because Ms. Lee had always been so kind and judgement free. Deep down, he expected her to react well to the news.

"Is there a problem?" She snapped, sparing Chan a reassuring glance before looking at her son sternly. Felix cried even harder.

"N-none at all!" Chan butted in, trying to clear the tense air that was growing.

"Don't you even think about spreading your homophobic bs towards Chan. He's been a part of this family for years, and we will accept him no matter what." The older woman hissed towards her son. She was completely misreading Felix's reaction.

"Mom..." Felix sighed, wiping his tears and ruining his perfectly done makeup.

"I- am also g-g..." He cried even harder, crumbling from all the years he kept his truth hidden.

Felix's mom didn't need to hear anymore, already knowing what her son was trying to tell her.

"Honey!" She called out, getting up from her seat and pulling her son into a tight hug.

"I love you! I love you no matter who and what you are. Please stop crying!" She reassured, rubbing small circles onto the blonde's back. Felix cried even harder upon his mom being so kind about it, hugging her back while he wept pathetically.

"Everything is okay, honey. I love you." She said, looking her son in the eyes while wiping his tears with her thumbs. She kissed the tip of his nose before pulling him back into a hug.

"Everything's okay. I don't hate you." The older woman softly spoke. This was the best reaction they could hope for.
