"Thank you! Have a good day" I said to one of my customers at my store, as I just finished with them at the register.

"You too" She said with a smile grabbing her bags and walked out, and soon as she walked out, Bird walked in.

And I was shocked. I haven't seen Bird or talked to him in a minute.

"Oh hey Bird" I said with a smile and he walked over to me.

"Wassup Jackie, how you been?" He asked giving me a hug, and I hugged him back.

"I'm good. You? How are you holding up?" I asked.

"One day at a time but I'm coo" Bird said. "That's good.. I'm glad you're okay" I said.

"You got a minute to talk?" He asked.

"Yeah, I do. Come on" I said walking to my office in the back and he followed me.

Once we got to the back I asked "You want anything? Water? Lemonade?" And I pointed to my mini fridge.

"Nah, nah I'm straight." He said and I nodded my head.

"Okay, wassup?" I asked as we sat across from each other and he sighed.

"I know it's been a while, and I'm sorry" He said.

"Nah don't apologize" I said.

"I got to. I tried to make you feel bad for standing by your husband and what he wanted at the time, I mean I understand. I just felt like because were best friends that you should've just been neutral-"

"I was neutral. I just had to fall back, you know? Because we were spending a lot of time together and Roddy was beginning to feel uncomfortable. But I still had your back Bird, and I still do now." I said.

"I know, I feel you. I just needed my space from everybody. I initiated the divorce but it was still hard, you know?" Bird said.

"Yeah" I said.

"Because I loved her but I just couldn't do it anymore. That cheating shit? I cannot move past, especially since it was with Roddy" He said.

"I know, that's definitely not easy. Do you feel relieved?" I asked him.

"I don't know." He said shrugging.

"Mmm..." I said.

"I heard y'all still be talking" Bird said folding his arms and laughing.

"Who?" I asked.

"You and Justine" He said and I laughed.

"Yeah... She just needs a friend and I-"

"You good, you good. I ain't trippin" Bird said.

"You sure?" I asked.

"I'm positive. I wouldn't want her to be alone through this" He said.
