Jackie POV

"You good?" Bird asked me as he got back in the car, he helped me get rid of the body.

"No." I said honestly as I looked out the window.

"Wanna talk about it?" He asked putting one hand on my leg.

I sighed and said "Da'Vion.. I don't know what I did so wrong to him. I don't. I don't have a clue what the fuck I did so wrong for Rodrick to hurt me to the core like this. To just completely crush my heart and step on it like this. To the point where... There's nothing left."

"You didn't do shit Jackie. He's an ungrateful mothafucka! Who didn't appreciate you and didn't love you the way he was supposed to. Instead, he thought you would never leave and that you would stay forever so he took advantage of that." Bird said.

I felt stray tears coming down my face.

"And now I'm ruined." I said.

"What do you mean?" Bird asked scrunching his eyebrows.

"I don't want my daughter to be like me. I don't want Myrical to be like me at all" I said.

"Why do you say that? Jackie there's nothing wrong with you" Bird said.

"Yes there is. Everything.. I don't want Myrical to be like me. I was a broken little girl moving from Memphis to Compton, no mom, no dad, no guidance, no love, so I met a man who came from broken love too, and let him disrespect me, belittle me, ruin me... I don't want that for Myrical.." I said and Bird just looked at me and listened.

"Killing mothafuckas every other day.." I said trying to wipe my tears but more were just coming out.

"I don't want that for her Da'Vion. I don't want my baby girl being a fucking damaged ass criminal like her mother. I want her to be a wholesome sweet girl." I said.

"Jackie stop talking like that about yourself. You're not a damaged criminal. You just been through hella shit and there's nothing to be ashamed of. Myrical will admire your strength through it all. You are THE strongest woman I have ever met in my entire life." Bird said.

"Really?" I said looking over at him.

"Absolutely. And that's extremely attractive, that you don't let anything break you. Not even Roddy." Bird said.

I grabbed Bird's hand and I held it to my heart, closing my eyes.

I honestly feel like... Bird is the love of my life.

He's everything I could've ever asked for.

"I don't even wanna go home." I said as I opened my eyes.

"Mannnn fuck that house. We gone get you a new place." Bird said.

"I was thinking the same thing" I said.

"Yeah you got to, because that house holds nothing but painful memories for you. You need a new start. Shit you got the money Jackie, you can find a new house in a day" Bird said chuckling.

"I definitely agree. Everything's fucked up anyway. My doors, the ceiling fan in the bedroom, everything" I said shaking my head.

"So how about tomorrow morning we go house hunting for you? And until you find a new home, you and the kids can just stay with me" Bird suggested.

I looked at him and nodded my head.

"I'd like that" I said wiping my tears.

"I got you" Bird said holding my hand, then he leaned in slowly and I leaned in as well, giving him a kiss.
