Jackie POV

To be continued

I got to my house unlocking the door, once I walked in I smelled tons and tons of cigarettes.

I made a face, I already knew Yvette was here just from that smell.

"Yvette?" I yelled walking in the living room, hearing her blasting "Fire and desire" by Rick James. Her old school shit. I sighed. And she was smoking a cigarette.

"Yvette really?" I said cutting off the stereo and yanked the cigarette from her mouth, like I used to. Something's will never change.

"I'm vibing!" She whined.

"Well if you gotta blast music at dang near mid night and smoke cigarettes then you can't vibe in my house, sorry." I said.

"It's been years and you still talk to me like I'm not your mother" Yvette said sighing.

"You don't treat me like I'm your daughter so you get what you give." I said.

"I've always treated you like my daughter" Yvette said.

"No you have not! Oh my gosh" I said, about to get mad. Does she need a history refresher of my childhood?

"Is that you Jackie?" Rodrick asked walking downstairs quickly.

"Yeah it's me" I said.

"I didn't know what you wanted to do about this so.. That's why I informed you." Rodrick said.

"And I appreciate you doing that. Thank you." I said, he grabbed my hand.

"You're welcome.." He said back, looking in my eyes. He smiled a little, and I smiled back then said "Stop Rodrick."

"I didn't do anything" He said chuckling.

"Mhm. Look Yvette, you can stay here for a few days and then I'm gone get you a hotel." I said.

She smacked her lips.

"Just a few days?" Yvette said.

"Yep. Why you here anyway?" I asked.

"I lost my apartment. I got evicted" Yvette said.

"Again?" I said sighing.

"I couldn't keep up with the payments." She said.

"Because you spending it on the wrong things." I said.

"Don't start with me." Yvette said.

"Nah I'm gone tell you straight up. You needa let that shit go." I said and Rodrick sighed. I know he sighed because this applies to him too.

"I'm grown I can do what I want Jacqueline." Yvette said.

"Not in my damn house" I said.

"Okay that's enough, both of you" Rodrick said.

"She better watch her mouth in my house that's all I'm saying" I said.

Yvette sighed and laid on the couch.

"No more cigarettes in my house Yvette. We got a patio if you needa smoke." I said.

"That's what I told her" Rodrick said.

"Alright damn!" She yelled. I chuckled, she better chill out.

Mom or not, I don't care. And technically she ain't even my mom. She didn't raise me. Mr.Silk and his wife did that.

Me and Rodrick walked up stairs and he asked me "So you staying here tonight?"

"Yeah I'll be here for a while since she's here." I said going through my dresser pulling out my night clothes.
