I woke up early the next morning, the soft whisper of waves filling the air. Woo-Bin was still asleep, but I sat on the sand, staring at the calm sea. The fresh morning air stirred my thoughts—about the life I'd lived, the unanswered mysteries, and whether I'd ever find the answers I sought.
Despite everything, I finally had something precious—friends who comforted me, who made the loneliness bearable. It was what I had always wished for. I hoped it would last.
But I was wrong.
Yi-Jung kissed Ga-Eul that night.
The person I foolishly thought might choose me had chosen someone else. My heart clenched, as if it had been torn apart.
Wiping away the blurry tears, I returned to the resort. I couldn't face them—not yet. I needed distance, even if it meant forcing a smile. My first heartbreak was from So Yi-Jung, F4's playboy.
How cliché.
And yet, my heartbreak wasn't the only one that night.
On the other side of the beach, another sight stopped me in my tracks—Jan-Di and Ji-Hoo, locked in a kiss.
I wanted to believe Jan-Di wouldn't do something like this. I wanted to believe she would be the person to truly love Jun-Pyo. But Ji-Hoo—someone I once saw as kind and quiet—revealed a different side. He was like a monkshood flower, beautiful yet poisonous, ruining everything in his path.
Jun-Pyo saw it too.
Before anyone could react, he swung a punch straight into Ji-Hoo's face.
If I were him, I might have done the same to Yi-Jung.
"I trusted you," Jun-Pyo said, his voice shaking with rage. He had always stood by Jan-Di's side, believed in her, never doubted her.
Seeing the situation spiral, I stepped forward. "Jun-Pyo, you need to calm down. Let's go back."
His fists clenched, his jaw tightened—but he listened. He always listened to me.
"Sora, I—"
Before Ji-Hoo could finish, my hand struck his face. The sting shot through my palm, but I didn't care.
"How could you do this to your friend?" My voice trembled with fury. "You, of all people, should know what it feels like to not be loved the way you want!"
Jan-Di opened her mouth, but I raised a hand to silence her. "Don't talk to me until you figure out what you really want."
I turned away and followed Jun-Pyo, leaving behind the wreckage of a love story that was never meant to be.
That night, he locked himself in his room, throwing anything within reach. His anger burned like wildfire, consuming him. I stood in silence until, finally, I reached out and placed my hand over his.
"Stop it. I know how you feel right now, but breaking things won't fix what's already broken."
Jun-Pyo turned to me, his expression dark with grief. He wanted to push me away, to tell me I had no right to say this. But when his eyes met mine, he saw the same misery reflected back. We were both mourning our heartbreaks. The only difference was—I was better at hiding it.
"I want to go home," he muttered. He couldn't stay here, not with them.
Since he had once helped me through a troubled night, I packed my bag as well. It was the least I could do.
We had arrived as seven people on a happy vacation. But now, only two of us were leaving—running away from something we had once called love.
At school, Jan-Di no longer greeted me. My day turned gloomy, my mood no better. Jun-Pyo told me to stay by his side, and as we walked into the cafeteria, he had both playboys at his side.
Yi-Jung's gaze lingered on me, but I quickly shifted my eyes to the floor. I couldn't look at him—not without breaking all over again.
The students whispered, sensing the tension within F3. They knew something had happened. The air was suffocating until Jun-Pyo finally spoke.
"From today onwards, Ji-Hoo is no longer part of F4," he declared. "Ji-Hoo and Jan-Di will be expelled from the school in one week."
Gasps filled the room. Even Woo-Bin and Yi-Jung looked shocked. But I knew this was coming—Jun-Pyo wanted them to feel pain, to punish them instead of letting go.
"Also..."
Jun-Pyo suddenly pulled me close. My body stiffened at his next words.
"Park Sora is my fiancée now."
The room fell silent before erupting into chaos. Yi-Jung's jaw dropped. Woo-Bin's eyes darkened with something I couldn't name. Even from a distance, Ji-Hoo and Jan-Di stared in shock.
This was the moment my life took a turn—one I never wanted.
"Are you crazy?!" I shouted as Jun-Pyo sat across from me in his mansion.
He winced at my volume, rubbing his temples. "My mother wanted me to find a suitor, so I thought of you before she chose someone worse."
Just because I had a close relationship with his mother didn't mean I wanted to be tangled in this dangerous family. Jun-Pyo gave me an apologetic look, but I wasn't buying it.
I was doomed.
"Look, I'll find a way for us to break up before things escalate," he reassured me, placing his hands on my shoulders.
I hesitated but eventually nodded. I had to trust him on this. We both knew we couldn't fall for each other. That wasn't going to happen.
"What the hell is going on?" Yi-Jung's voice snapped me out of my thoughts.
He stood before me, his glare sharp enough to cut. The protein bar in my hand suddenly felt heavier.
"Look, you don't get to question me when you kissed Ga-Eul at the resort," I said calmly.
His eyes widened, realization dawning on him. He must have sensed someone watching, but he had dismissed it.
"I—I—"
"Save it," I cut him off. "We were never together. We don't owe each other anything."
Brushing past him, I clenched my fists. The pain still lingered, but I had to move on.
That evening, I was summoned by Jun-Pyo's mother.
The limousine ride felt suffocating as she studied me with a calculating gaze.
"I see my son has taken a liking to you," she finally said.
I forced a smile. "Y-yes."
She smirked knowingly. "You know you're like a daughter to me. Because of your late father, I've done everything possible for you. But if you keep secrets from me, it will be game over."
I swallowed hard. She was dangerous. She knew everything.
"Yes, Madam," I whispered before stepping out of the car.
This was just the beginning of my nightmare.
Later that night, I waited outside Jun-Pyo's house. When he finally appeared, I smiled sheepishly.
"What is it now?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.
"I got you something." I held out a chocolate stick. "You told me you've never had one before, so try it."
"No way," he scoffed.
I sighed, unwrapping one and placing it in my mouth. "Seriously, I came all this way so you could—"
Before I could finish, Jun-Pyo tilted my chin up and bit the other end.
My breath hitched as he leaned in closer. The stick grew shorter, and for a moment, I thought he was going to kiss me.
But just before our lips met, he pulled away with a smirk.
"You're right," he said. "It's delicious."
I stared at him, my heart racing.
And before I could stop myself, I wrapped my arms around him from behind.
"Can you open your heart for me instead of Jan-Di?"
