Austin's P.O.V:

Vagueness. Waking up to an unfamiliar place is not far from being lost in the wild. Although the sunshine that penetrates from the window is overwhelming and lightens the whole room, still, it's not enough to enlighten my mind completely. After opening my eyes, the white ceiling instantly greets me which is normal from someone lying on bed in supine position. The surrounding is covered mostly in white from the walls, the window frames, the door, the bed, the couch, the hospital table, even the clothes I'm wearing are white too.

"Oh my god, Austin? You're finally awake. Janessa, call the nurses now."

Austin? Yeah, it's me. I'm Austin but who are these people? Why do they know me? I try my best to remember the two women I'm with right now but suddenly my head hurts. As I lift one of my hand to touch my head that's the time I realize I'm not in an ordinary room. Apart from the intravenous fluids that keep me hydrated and making sure that medication and nutrients are properly being delivered into my veins, just who on earth would keep an oxygen inhalation equipment and a defibrillator inside a bedroom? Well, that exclude patients whose medical condition are at risk.

"Austin, baby. How are you feeling right now?"
"I.. I'm fine. I guess? And you?"
"I'm fine also. D-do you know who I am?"

I slowly shake my head then questions the woman her name, her relationship with me, and why I am in the hospital. But instead of answering me, she suddenly burst into tears. Now I am more confuse especially when another person shows up in the room and this time it's a he. The man looks at me first before shifting his gaze to the woman crying on the bedside.

"Amber, please tell me he recognizes you.."

The woman named Amber mirrors what I did a while ago when she asked me if I recognize her. The man standing near the door closes his eyes, clenches his jaw, and heave a sigh before looking at me again with teary eyes and calling me his son.

--------------------------------------------------------------

"Amnesia?"
"Yes, base from the exams and results either you have a retrogade amnesia or a dissociative amnesia."
"Either? Why either?"
"You have a rare condition, Austin. You may not recall or recognize but I have never met a patient who knows every detail of what he learned from school until you became a resident."

Yeah, I think I'll agree with that. Even myself cannot believe how my brain retained those information. Should I be happy and consider myself lucky? Nah. Amnesia is an amnesia. As I look at my mom, Amber, she only smiles at me though deep inside I know she's hurting. A hurt which I have caused and now I'm guilty. If only I could trade my knowledge as a doctor to the memories I had with her I'd definitely do it. But that's not possible so after hearing and learning my treatment plan from my neurologist, I face my mom and promise her that I'll work hard and will do my best to get better.

"Everything's going to be okay, mom. Trust me."

--------------------------------------------------------------

Inside the car, I scan the exterior of the area where I took my early education based from what daddy Zeke told me. At first it made my eyebrows furrowed knowing I have two fathers not until I learned the history of my mom, my dad, and my daddy Zeke that's why right now, I am with him so he could help me or atleast share with me what I was like when I was a toddler.

"You're already a smart kid. I remember when I got back from a flight and was about to surpise you by picking you up here, little did I know, I was the one who will be surprised."
"Really? Why? What did I do?"
"You did what you just did as a pupil. Best in Science, Best in Mathematics, Best in Arts, and of course, Best in looks."
