Happy contacted the attorney the next morning. They were putting a stop to this all once and for all. He was worried that his wife would go do something crazy if it meant that her kids were taken care of. She wasn't about to worry about it all. She left the younger kids with Brooke to go take care of the school. She still wasn't happy about someone approaching her children.
She entered the office with both of her boys. The secretary looked up at her.
"Can I help you?" the woman asked.
"I want to speak to the principal," Allison said, "NOW."
"Just a moment."
The woman seemed a bit frazzled that Allison looked so angry. She looked at the two boys that stood next to her. They didn't even seem fazed by their mother's anger. It took a few moments before the principal came out of her office. Allison glared at her.
"Can I help you?" the woman asked.
"You allowed my children to be pulled from class to talk to a social worker without my permission or their father's?" Allison demanded.
The woman was silent. She really didn't have an answer for her. Allison stood there waiting on an answer.
"So you illegally allowed someone to speak to my children alone without my permission," she repeated.
"They were not alone." the principal said. "Nor do we need your permission if they are investigating you."
"Excuse me? Do you think I do not know my rights? These are children. My children and you most certainly need my permission to speak with them especially without a legal guardian present."
"Mrs. Lowman,"
"The only thing I want to hear from you right now is an apology and how you plan to make this right."
The principal stared at her. Allison did not give in as she stood there. The boys watched their mother for a moment.
"My attorney is going to have a heyday with this," she said.
"Excuse me?" the principal asked.
"Oh my husband is currently in a meeting with our attorney to bring a lawsuit against the school for not even bothering to inform us that someone was speaking to our children."
The woman's face fell as she stared at Allison.
"So I suggest you get on the phone with your attorney and figure it out," Allison said.
"Mrs. Lowman, that is not necessary," she began.
"Oh it is very much necessary. My children came home informing me that someone spoke to them from Social Services with a cop in the room. I believe that is more than enough reason to bring a lawsuit. My children are my first priority and their safety is number one. If they feel like they can't come to school without being interrogated by people speaking badly on their parents then there is a major issue. It is your responsibility to ensure my boys feel safe while here in your school and they did not feel that way yesterday. They felt attacked with ideas that their parents were going to be going to jail for nothing and that they wouldn't see their siblings again. You don't see the problem here?"
"Yes, I do."
"If Drake Mikelson ever steps foot anywhere near my children, I don't give a damn if he is an officer of the law. He has a vendetta against my family and I will not tolerate it affecting my boys."
The principal nodded. Allison was satisfied that she got her point across. She turned to her boys as they stood next to her.
"Now do you two feel like you can stay here?" she asked.
Ryder shrugged. He wasn't sure that he wanted to stay because he didn't want to deal with going to class and being questioned by his friends. Noah had been worried about going to sleep and that they would take him from the school. The little boy shook his head as his mother sighed.
"Noah, no one is going to take you away from us." she said.
The effects on Noah were not apparent until the boy went to bed the previous night. He had panicked that his parents were going to disappear overnight. Ryder was just pouring it on because he didn't want to go to class. Allison saw right through her oldest son. She knew what he was doing. He loved that his school was in trouble for doing something that made his parents mad. He was a typical little boy who didn't want to go to school. She shook her head.
"Ryder, go to class," she said.
He made a face but got his pass from the secretary and walked out of the office. Noah looked panicked about going. She sighed heavily.
"I'm going to take him home," she said.
The principal nodded. Allison took her son home. Happy pulled into the driveway the same time that she did. Noah got out of the vehicle. Happy looked confused as his son threw his arms around him.
"What's wrong?" he asked.
"I don't want them to take me away," Noah said.
"Bud, no one is going to take you away from me and mom. I promise you that."
Noah looked up at his dad. Happy had never seen himself as wanting children but he was a really good dad now that he had them. He would do anything for these kids. He would fight to the ends of the earth for his children and take down anything that would try to remotely hurt them.
"I figured it was better to bring him home than to let him freak out in class all day," she said.
"It's fine babe," he replied.
"I have half a mind to pull them from that school and just homeschool them both."
"They need the interaction with kids their own age, Al."
"I know, that's why I'm not doing it."
He chuckled a bit. They went in the house. Brooke looked up at them. She was on the floor in their living room with the younger three. Emersyn was on her belly, staring at the television.
