Allison didn't feel like things were going to calm down anytime soon. She knew that the police were going to do everything they could to make sure that Happy went to prison. She already had the attorney on standby for them. They were ready if law enforcement ever came to pick him up.
"Al, what's wrong?" Happy asked.
"Just thinking this isn't the end," she replied.
"Of course it's not. We aren't done yet."
"Happy, you know what I'm talking about."
He nodded. She sighed heavily. It was hard to deal with. Now she would have five kids to deal with if he went to prison. She wasn't sure how she would handle that. He looked at her. He hadn't been approached again and neither had she. They were waiting to get word through their attorney that law enforcement had closed the case against them. DCS was still a problem for them though. They wanted to see all of the children and Allison refused. They had come to the kids school and interviewed them without parental permission and scared the boys. She was not going to tolerate that.
A knock came on the door. Happy went to answer it. Allison was right behind him. She had a pretty good idea of who it was at the door. She glared at the woman on the other side of the door as Happy opened it.
"Can I help you?" Happy asked.
"Victor Lowman?" the woman asked.
They noticed that she had two officers with her. Allison rolled her eyes. She knew this woman was going to try to get past Happy to see Emersyn, Mason, and Maia. She wasn't about to let her anywhere near the kids after she scared both Ryder and Noah at school.
"What do you want?" Happy asked, drawing Allison's attention back to the situation in front of her.
"I need to see your other children. We have an open investigation into you and your wife based on what you do for a living and the investigation into the death of Damon Pearson." the woman said.
"Nope, you don't. Unless you have a court order to see my children, this case you have opened is bullshit and you need to get off my property. The next time you attempt to speak to my children that are in school, there will be a lawsuit at your office faster than you can blink,"
"Sir, we do not take kindly to threats."
"It's not a threat. It's a promise that I will be suing the office if you do not leave my family alone."
The officers with the woman stepped forward. Happy rolled his eyes again. He figured that this would happen. He glanced back at his wife. She stared at them.
"We do not take too kindly to threats, Mr. Lowman," the first officer said.
"Like I said, it's not a threat. I am well within my rights to not allow you to see my children and to sue for speaking to my boys at their school without permission from my wife or myself," Happy replied.
"If you continue to make those threats, we will take you in."
"Please do so, I would love a lawsuit against the police department for unlawful detainment of my husband," Allison spoke up.
"Excuse me?"
"Sir, we are in our home. You have come here without a warrant or anything from the courts harassing us and insisting on seeing my children. You have already gone to my sons school and terrified them both. We are now dealing with the backlash from that in the form of nightmares that you are going to take them away. I am already consulting with my attorney as to what can be legally done to deal with you all. Now unless you have a court order stating that I have to allow you to speak with my children, you need to leave."
She pulled Happy back from the door as he glared at everyone on his porch. He looked at her funny and she closed the door. She made sure that it was locked and then went back to what she was doing. Happy trailed after her.
"Al, what the hell?" he asked.
"Contact the attorney. I want a lawsuit filed. They have no grounds to continue harassing us or our kids. They had no grounds for a case in the first place," she said.
"All right."
She ignored the doorbell when she saw that they hadn't left. She continued to take care of her children. The doorbell rang again. Allison rolled her eyes. Happy walked to the door with the phone to his ear. He pulled it open.
"My attorney says that all requests must be put through her including being able to see my children. Leave or these officers will have no choice but to arrest you for not following the law," he said before closing the door again.
Allison looked at him. He sat down and put the phone on speaker.
"I will handle all interactions with the police and DCS from here on out. They will not show up to the house anymore. I am contacting a DCS supervisor for the worker that has come out to the house and talked to the boys," their attorney said.
"Thank you," Allison replied.
"No problem. I will keep you updated."
Happy got off the phone. They dealt with the household chores together before Happy went to get the older boys from school. He came back with them and set them to cleaning their room since there were toys everywhere. They grumbled and groaned but got it done. Allison got caught up on the laundry and then began working on dinner. Ryder made his way into the kitchen with a basket of clothes.
"Ryder Anthony, are you kidding me right now?" she asked.
"Its not my stuff. It's mostly Noah's crap from under his bed," he replied.
"Noah James,"
She sighed heavily. She had thought she was done with laundry for the day once she got through Mason and Maia's stuff. She decided to show her son how to do laundry so that he could do it for them.
