The boys went back to school a week later. Happy was still helping Allison out with the kids. Emersyn was loving the time she was getting with her dad. He bonded with Mason every evening and Allison wasn't biting his head off nearly as much.

"Hap, get your son off that damn game and on his homework," she said.

"Ryder Anthony," Happy called.

The boy grumbled about it until Happy appeared in his doorway. He looked up at him.

"You wanna be grounded from it for a month?" Happy asked.

Ryder shook his head. Happy just watched him. His son left the room and headed down the hall to do his homework. Happy went to check on Allison. She was moving a lot easier now but kinda liked that he was there to help. She was doing laundry while the baby slept.

"Babe, what are you doing?" he asked.

"Your children need clean clothes, Hap," she said looking up at him.

"So ask for help, I don't need you hurting yourself."

"I'm all right, Hap."

"Gemma wants to do a family dinner again this week to try again to welcome Mason to the family."

"Is she going to be there?"

"No babe, she isn't."

Allison nodded. He sat down on the couch to watch her for a moment.

"You weren't scheduled today?" she asked.

He shook his head.

"Got church later but that's it," he said.

She nodded. He sighed. She looked at him.

"What?" she asked.

"Nothin really," he said.

"You sure?"

He nodded. He needed to keep reminding himself that she wasn't going to let him stay. He was content even if he was in the guest room. He was home with his family and knew if they were safe or not. It kept him calmer than any time he was at his rental home or the clubhouse.

"Al, I got an idea that will help us out," he said.

"What?" she asked.

"I will stay in the guest room here permanently so I can help with the kids every day and know that you guys are safe."

"No, Hap. That is a horrible idea."

"Why?"

"Because how am I ever supposed to get over you knocking someone else up if the kid is always in my face?"

He sighed heavily. He didn't even know if the baby was his or not. He wanted his wife back more than anything on earth. His kids deserved their family.

"Just think about it. Or maybe I can get a house nearby in case you need anything." he said.

"Happy," she sighed.

"Al, I gotta do something. I need to be close to you. I swear I almost lost my shit the day you had Mace. I have never been that scared in my life. I just need to know that you are safe."

"The house next door is going up for sale."

"Really?"

Allison nodded. She didn't want him that close but knew he wasn't going to give up. She watched him for a minute as he contemplated the whole thing.

"Could join the backyard up into one too," he said.

"Or not," she replied.

"Why not?"

She gave him a very pointed look that made him sigh. He knew it was all going to come down to the paternity of this child. He knew no matter what at this point Allison was done with him but he wasn't done with her. He was going to prove it by getting his shit together. He was avoiding all crow eaters. He was just done with that part of the life style. It was too bad that it took losing his wife for him to finally get it though.

"That's one thing I just can't get over right now," she said.

"I understand," he replied.

"Do you? Because what if you decide you want to try to give that child a family with it's mother?"

"Not gonna happen Al. Shit I only slept with the bitch twice. Second time the condom broke but she said she was on birth control so I didn't think anything of it."

"Now we deal with a world of shit because you couldn't just come home to me."

"I know, I'm sorry."

"Do you remember how we even got started?"

He shrugged.

Flashback

Allison ran thru the Lowman back door and down the hall until she ran smack into Happy's chest. His arms went around her instinctively.

"What's wrong Al?" he asked.

She said nothing just remained buried in his chest as sobs wracked her body.

"Allison, what happened?" he asked.

She finally looked up at him. He saw a bruise forming under her left eye. He saw red instantly.

"Who the fuck hit you?" he demanded.

"Jordan, I caught him cheating," she sniffed.

"He cheated on you and hit you for it?"

"I told him to go fuck himself."

Happy nodded. He was damn sure going to make sure that Jordan Thompson paid for what he had done, but first he had to ensure that his best friend was all right. He held her while she cried. He tilted her head and pressed a kiss to her lips. She pulled back and stared at him for a moment.

"I'm sorry," he began.

She shook her head and crashed her lips to his. He pulled her as close as he could to him.

End

"I know, I'm no better than that asshole at this point but I really do love you with everything I have," he said.

"I know you do Hap. But you sabotoged us," she replied.

He nodded admitting that he screwed up. He decided to look into the house next door from Allison.
