As soon as Allison was in a room, the kids were allowed to visit with her. Happy had to go speak with officers so they could start looking for his daughter. He was beyond angry about it all and knew exactly who was at fault.

"Lyssa Henderson did this," he said.

"Are you sure?" Roosevelt asked.

"Yeah, I'm sure. She's been showing up at my house to try to take Maia for weeks now. She has no claim to Maia. I made sure of that in court. It's all legal."

Eli Roosevelt nodded. Happy was irritated by it all. He wanted to get back in to be with his family and be able to reassure his boys that they had done their jobs. Ryder was still struggling, especially after he saw his mother. He felt that when his father was gone it was his job to protect his mother.

"Ry, come here," Happy said.

"Dad," he began.

"No, come here. It's all right."

The little boy stepped into the hallway with his father and the officer. He had to tell the officer what he had seen when they were at home. He had woken up to the gunshot. Once they were done with the officer, they stepped back into the room. Ryder looked up at his dad.

"You aren't to blame for this and you did exactly what you were supposed to," Happy told him.

"Dad, I didn't protect mom," Ryder said.

"Bud, you turn nine in two days. You have a lot on your plate. You have done amazing when I wasn't at home. I am so proud of you."

Ryder nodded. He wasn't sure that his mom felt the same. He looked over at her. She smiled at him.

"Handsome boy, you have done incredible. You and Noah saved my life today. I am extremely proud of you both." she told him.

Ryder stared at her. Happy smiled at his little boy. Ryder was always trying to be older than he was. He had seen a lot in the last nine years. Allison looked at her husband.

"I have to be out of here for his birthday," she said.

"Baby, you will leave here when they say you can," Happy replied.

"This is not up for a debate. I will be at home for my son's birthday."

"Mama, I just want you to get better." Ryder said.

"I haven't missed a birthday yet. I am not about to start now," she replied.

"Al, we can celebrate his birthday when you come home." Happy said.

"Hap,"

"Can you just focus on getting better?"

He was getting frustrated.

"Who is going to help you with them?" she asked.

"I called Angela to come into town while you were here. She is going to be here in the morning and will stay until you are on your feet so I can focus on finding Maia," he said.

"Happy, you can't get caught."

"Allison, do not underestimate me."

"I'm not. I just don't want to have this come back on us."

He nodded in understanding. She smiled at him. He leaned down to kiss her.

"Gemma is going to take the kids home tonight," he said.

"Hap, they need you," she said.

"I know babe, but I have to go talk to Juice and give him every piece of info that I can on Maia for when the other charter arrives."

She nodded. He kissed her again. The kids said goodnight to her and headed out with Gemma.

"Hap," Allison said, before he headed out.

"What babe?" he asked.

"Bring our baby home. I know how things got started for us with this whole situation but she is mine and I want her back."

"I got you mama. There is a prospect out here to keep you safe."

"I love you, Victor."

"I love you too, Allison."

He left the room. She had been given some more pain medication. She was worried about the baby because no one could get the little girl to sleep except her. She was scared about what would happen if the baby began to irritate Lyssa. She didn't want Maia to get hurt. It wasn't the little girl's fault that she only wanted Allison at bedtime. Happy couldn't even soothe her.

"Hey Rat," she called.

"What's up Al?" he asked.

"Just making sure you are there."

"I'm here til morning. Go ahead and get some sleep."

She yawned showing just how tired she actually was. He was sitting outside her hospital room door. Only doctors and nurses were allowed in. He also had to verify who they were before they went in the room. Her door was left open while they were in there with her. Especially once she was asleep.

The nurse entering her room the next morning, woke her up. She looked over at her as she checked the output on the chest tube.

"It looks good," she told Allison.

Allison nodded.

"The doctor is making his rounds now so he should be in shortly. Hopefully he will want to remove the tube for you today," she said.

"That would be nice cuz it hurts like hell," Allison told her.

"I bet. I can't say I've ever had a chest tube before. It just looks painful."

"This is actually my second one."

"Really?"

"First one was after a car accident. Broke a few ribs and one punctured the lung. Same side too."

The girl looked surprised. It was a few more minutes before the doctor came into the room to check in on her. She looked over to see Rat standing in the doorway. He was always right where she could see him which made her feel a lot safer. She had never felt scared before all of this happened. He smiled gently at her from the door.

"We are going to remove this tube today," the doctor said.

Allison nodded. He prepared to remove the tube from her chest. She was glad that they gave her something before they removed the tube. She only felt the hint of the tube being removed. He stitched up where the tube had been. Rat got a phone call, luckily after the doctor and nurse had left the room. Allison looked at him. He walked into her room after he got off the phone.

"I have to head out. Sam is sitting out there now," he said.

"Did they find her?" Allison asked.

"Not yet."

Allison nodded as he walked out of the room. She sighed.
