SC03 - The Right Decision

INT. ST. NERO CHAPEL. EVENING.

Eleanor is cleaning up the kitchen after a meal and her little sister Jan is helping her. The TV is playing an interview with Admiral Balfor in the background. Her father, Argus Mayne is sitting at the table, reading the letter from Balfor. He has a concerned look on his face.

MAYNE: You must be careful, Elle. How do you know you can trust this boy?

ELEANOR: He's telling the truth, Father. Everything seems official. And if Balfor knows about the stone then maybe there's a chance he can tell me more about my ability. I can't just pass this up.

MAYNE: I just want you to be sure this is the right decision. If people were to find out about what you can do... I don't know what might happen.

ELEANOR: If the Admiral doesn't already know, then I'm not going to tell him. Look, I'll only be gone three days and there won't be any side trips. What's the worst that could happen?

JAN: Yeah! Ella wants to go, father. Will you let her go? Pleeeaaaase!

January makes an adorable face. Eleanor smiles and raises an eyebrow at Mayne.

ELEANOR: C'mon, you can't resist that face.

MAYNE: (Sighs) Alright, Elle. If this is what you want.

JAN: Yay!

ELEANOR: Thank you! (She runs up to Mayne and hugs him) I'm gonna go pack. I have to leave pretty early.

Eleanor dashes out of the room. January tries her adorable face again.

JAN: Can I go too?

MAYNE: You have study tomorrow. Now it's bedtime, go on.

JAN: Awwww... Bossyboots!
