SC18 - Failure to Comply

EXT. ATLA WILDERNESS. AFTERNOON.

After Eleanor and the others are gone, the valley falls silent. But the serene moment is quickly interrupted as Delia's arm bursts out from under the snow and she scrambles out. She is heavily battered - her clothes are ripped and her arm is covered in blood. She screams out in frustration, her cries echoing through the valley. She falls to her knees, only then realizing she is bleeding. She places her hand on the wound and shadows wrap around it, closing the wound but leaving a dark purple mark on her skin. She looks at it with disgust.

VOICE: (Mockingly) Are you going to be alright?

Delia stands up and turns to face the man who had quietly appeared behind her.

DELIA: Marneus!

MARNEUS: You're a real mess, Delia. What would Lord Demencia think if he could see you now?

DELIA: Back off, Marneus. This is my job.

MARNEUS: Was your job. Our master believes your progress with the Grand Admiral has been... unsatisfactory.

DELIA: Scurry on back to Demencia and tell him I can handle this!

MARNEUS: Because you're doing such a good job already...

Delia hisses at him.

MARNEUS: Fortunately for you, he still wants you alive. Turns out there's a problem with scheduling on the Philosipher project. You're to take control of the situation.

DELIA: Can't he get Balfor to do it? I'd be more useful if...

MARNEUS: There is no debating this, Dee! Besides, our new plan requires someone we can trust. Although how Demencia still has any faith in you I'll never know.

Delia scowls at him but he simply turns away from her.

MARNEUS: Everything hinges on your success. Do. Not. Fail.

With that, Marneus vanishes into the shadows. Delia kicks at the snow and yells out in anger.
