SC20 - Captured

EXT. AXIUS HARBOUR. MIDDAY.

Kayla moves stealthily across a rooftop that overlooks the harbour. She peers over the edge and sees that the area is free from soldiers, with just a few workers on the docks. She spots a fishing vessel called the Rainfall sitting at the far end. Kayla sneaks over the rooftops until she is above the above the boat then drops down and dashes behind some crates. Then she makes her way to the Rainfall and climbs on board, checking for crew before slipping in to the control room. The fuel gauge is full and there are charts and navigation equipment on a desk. Satisfied with her find, Kayla turns to leave but finds herself face to face with a soldier with his gun pointed straight at her.

SOLDIER: Freeze!

Kayla swiftly kicks the gun out of his hands. The soldier lunges at her but she ducks and strikes him in the head with her elbow, knocking him out. She picks up his gun and runs up onto the deck, which is full of soldiers aiming their guns at her. One of the soldiers yells out.

SOLDIER: Drop the weapon!

Kayla places her gun on the deck and puts her hands in the air. Balfor saunters through the crowd of soldiers with a dark smile on his face.

BALFOR: What do we have here? Kayla, my dear. Your poor father has been worried sick about you.

Two guards step forward and grab Kayla's arms, forcing her hands behind her back. She glares at Balfor angrily.

KAYLA: You can tell him I'm fine. Just taking a short vacation. What do you want, Raije?

BALFOR: Hmph, you always were an impolite little brat. Fine I'll skip to the chase. Where's the girl?

KAYLA: I don't know what you're talking about.

Balfor unsheathes his sword and places the tip under her chin, forcing her to raise her head.

BALFOR: What consequence is that girl to you? You'd sacrifice your career, your family. Everything for a girl you barely know, just to protect her from... what exactly?

KAYLA: I'm not doing this for her.

BALFOR: Oh... then the mercenary? (He lowers his sword) I'll make you a deal. Tell me where the girl is and you and your boyfriend will go free. It's a win win really.

KAYLA: You think I'm stupid enough to trust you?

BALFOR: I suppose not. After all, why would I throw away an opportunity like this. Once the Emperor learns of your actions your father's position will be in jeopardy, leaving the title of General free for the taking.

Kayla spits at his feet and Balfor lashes out, striking her in the face with the back of his hand.

BALFOR: Insolent child! I would have thought you'd show your own uncle more respect.

KAYLA: You're no family of mine!

Balfor glares at her in fury for a moment before spinning around to address the soldiers.

BALFOR: Tie her hands and make sure she doesn't get away! Let's see if we can draw the others out of hiding.
