I raised my chin defiantly as we made our way across the grass to my aunts back-graden, I wasn't going to make any conversation untill I found exactly what he's doing with this girl...Stop over-reacting! Gosh! It could be family for all you know!  My inner goddes was scolding me... Although that is kind of true... I mean, honestly I need to chill...

I was going to just walk away, quietly and not make any fuss but Nico had spotted me.

"Hey Monika! Coming out?" I loved the way he said my name... It almost made it sound like a good name and worth all of the times 'Microsoft' had corrected me.

"Uh..." I wasn't whether or not I should stay out with him and that girl, but then I realised Kate was nodding and grinning at me "Okay, hold on a sec"

"What you gonna tell aunt?" I asked Kate, afraid that they'd wonder where I was.

"I'll just say you're playing outside. simple. see ya! Have fun with lover boy!" She giggled and ran off.

I turned around, took a deep breath and flipped my fringe out of my face and started to walk directly towards Nico, getting ready for a hasty exit in case that girl did turn out to be someone like a girlfriend or previous ex.

"Hey" I waved awkwardly

"Hi" Replied the red-head.

"Wassuuuppp!" Nico yelled, he didn't seem to notice the unspoken tension between us two girls

"So... you are?" I asked, looking at the red-head

"Beth. You?" She replied as cooly as I had asked, clearly not intending to start a conversation

"Monika. Nice to meet you!" I said enthusiastically because Nico was staring at me with a puzzled expression on his face, Red-head noticed him looking too and suddenly her enthusiasm matched mine.

"So... what you guys doing?" I asked politely, suddenly feeling very uncomfortable

"Nothing. Playing some footie" I noticed how tomboy-ish she sounded and the fact that she didn't invite me to play... hmmm... moody or what?

"Wanna play?" Nico asked, cheeky grin on his face.

"Sure" I replied.

An hour had passed, I was sweaty, tired and probably looking like a mess, but Nico didn't seem to mind, in fact, he was just more mesmerised by me. I loved the attention! Then all of a sudden, completely out of the blue, Beth had stood up and announced that she had to go eat.

"Uh, kay, umm, byee. Nice to meet you!" I exclaimed as she walked away. She wasn't that bad, but it was obvious...

"She likes you..." I said to Nico suddenly

"Huh? What? She's Benny's distant cousin..." He trailed away. So he was oblivious to her mood changes around him? Boys. Pshht!

"So? Distant enough huh? Naa, I can tell the girl fancies you... bless.." I said, pulling a face

"Hahah! You can talk!" He grinned back

"What do you mean by that?!" I yelled after him as he walked into his back garden, smirking.

He just smiled and walked in, muttering that he'd be out in a bit. Sooo the fella obviously is cleverer than I though... He's catching on, but he has no idea...

He said he loved me... (completed)Where stories live. Discover now
