Chapter three: The guy next door…

“You should so use him for the dare…” Gina began,but then realised that I wouldn’t be doing any ‘using’ because as clearly as it may be, I was actually truly falling for this guy.

Even when he pulled out a cigarette in front of what I thought were his parents, it didn’t bother me. I still though he was gorgeous. He was older, I could see that at once, 15 or 16 maybe… well I was 13…after all age shouldn’t matter, should it?

Later on, I found out his name was Nico. Cute name, cute guy. Very exotic. We were just starting to light the fire when the next door neighbours came out into their garden and suggested the kids (us) go outside and have a kick around before the food is done… so we took the netball ball and made our way outside the back garden. I was totally surprised when we opened the gate to find at least 10 kids outside and a couple of teenage girls giggling loudly on the grass. They hadn’t been there before. Just as I turned to tell Kate to come, I saw him! He was playing football with a little ginger boy! He looked even better up close…

I must have flushed crimson because when Kate came back she asked why I’m all red, I casually replied that it is hot. But I think she realised during the day because I couldn’t keep my eyes off him, well what d’you expect when he’s wearing no shirt? I soon became restless and bored so I asked him if we could play some footie with him. Like a boy, he replied that he’s ‘trash’ us. Typical boy talk for I’m better than you’.

So being me, I decided to make him take it back and had a netball match with him. Everything was going amazing, he was talking and laughing with me and I was just having a great time being around him, then he started showing off with the ball, which I found pretty cute at first and then very annoying so I beat him in the first game, and you should have seen the look on his face! I loved the way he spoke to me, he made me feel important and he respected my view of things and my opinion. He made me feel beautiful, made me feel like I belong somewhere, and right about now that somewhere was with him.

That evening, I decided that maybe, just maybe he might like me for who I truly am…
