A/N: Buckle up... it's a long chapter.

Natasha's POV

Steve and Tony are going at each other, the fact that (Y/N) is missing is throwing them further into fighting. She's always been the rock between them, steadying them and kicking them into shape. I glance around the room as they fight, trying to find some clue. Anything that would lead me to her.

I can't lose her too. Our family is broken and splintered. Losing Sarah was heartbreaking, and then not being able to get a hold of Clint... I just can't afford to lose someone else I love. I just can't.

Not wanting to let the men see my sudden onslaught of emotion, I turn and face the window. Then I see it. A glow in the distance, by the water. The idea she would get came to mind in a flash. Oh god no.

I ran out of the room in a flash, not giving reason or wasting my breath with explanations. I would kill her, I will save her and then kill her for doing this to us. Dammit (Y/N). I launched myself into the water without a second thought, following the faint glow in the depths.

The closer I got I could finally see her. The glow surrounded her, as if protecting her as she floated there in the water's depths. No caring if the glow would hurt me or not, I swam up to her wanting to grab a hold of her. The glow dissipated as soon as my hands grabbed her. I pulled her close and fought against the water's resistance to bring us both up and out. Breaking the surface I gasped and took in a deep breath, treading water.

"Nat!" I heard in the distance and started swimming towards the water's edge. Hearing a splash eventually I saw Steve come into view.

"Take her!" He looked at me worriedly but complied. I swam after him, a little slower as I tried to regain my breath. I ran out of the water and landed on all fours next to Steve where he was trying to resuscitate (Y/N).

"Oh god!" Pepper exclaimed as she approached us. I couldn't tare my eyes off of (Y/N), tears falling from my eyes. "Don't you do this to me (Y/N)!" I yelled out as Steve continued to press down on her chest. At my scream she coughed up water, and I felt myself gasp in relief. I crouched to her side, pushing the wet hair from her face.

"(Y/N), it's okay. We're here. I got you..." She looked up at me, her eyes focusing on me before launching herself upright and into my arms. Sobs breaking through every breath she took. "Their gone. Their gone..." She repeated over and over again between sobs like a mantra as I rocked her back and forth.

We both stayed there in that position for what felt like ages. Neither of us willing to let the other one go. I felt a warm blanket thrown over both of us, and I looked up to see Steve's broken expression. Without another word he picked us both up into his arms. I threw him a shocked glance to which he gave me a small, tired smirk before I turned back to consoling (Y/N).

When Steve placed us down, I half expected us to be back in the medical bay. But we were in our room on our bed. Steve laid down next to me and held me as I held (Y/N). Feeling his body warmth, I continued to whisper small affirmations to my broken friend and hold her tight. Eventually I felt myself drift off to sleep.

-.-.-.-

I felt warm. I felt held, enveloped in a warm embrace. Bucky. He always made me feel safe, secure and warm. I opened my eyes slowly, half expecting to have his piercing blue eyes staring back at me. I was met with soft green eyes instead, and I felt the pang of pain in my chest reminding me that I would never so those piercing blue eyes again.

"Hey you." Her voice was soft, like her gaze. I wanted to cry, I wanted to scream, but instead I croaked a small "hey". She cupped my face softly, looking at me with tears in her eyes. "What were you thinking (Y/N)?"
