Bucky's POV
"Tony. Bruce." As if startled by the mention of their name, they jump from whatever their working on and turn to face me.
"Ah Manchurian Candidate. What can we do for you?" Tony smiles as he walks your way. "Finally going to let me play around with your bionic arm??"
"No." The man can't stop tinkering, it's insufferable. "I need to know if you've made any headway with (Y/N)'s well... head."
"We are still scanning the download Bucky. We won't have answers till after the party." Bruce cleans his glasses on his shirt. He looks exhausted.
"She's not getting better."
"She will. Once we can see what's going on. Just give us time to work our magic Barnes." Tony grabs a container off a nearby table, "blueberry?"
I groan and walk out of the room, obviously not getting any answers or results tonight. My mind races thinking about (Y/N). I hate to see her suffer. Maybe this party tomorrow will keep her mind off of things, help her feel better.
I shake my head. A party. I don't think I'm going to like being at a party. I used to love them though. But that was another Bucky, another time. I don't know if I'm still capable of being that guy. I used to love dancing, hearing the bands play their songs. As I kept walking to our room, a memory of one specific night washed over me.
"Buck!" (Y/N) calls out, catching my eye. She's got her hair pinned back so perfectly, and a smile that can kill.
"There she is! Come on Steve!" I practically had to drag the punk out. I know he hated coming, but I never let him turn me down. I would get Steve to dance with a girl tonight. If it's the last thing I do. What kind of best friend would I be if I didn't help my bud get a girl?
As we approached (Y/N) I could see her swaying to the song, drink in hand. The place was jammed packed full of people, but my eyes could only see her as she casually sipped from her drink.
"Took you two long enough to get here!" She came up and hugged me and then Steve. It was too short of a hug for my taste.
"I practically had to drag Steve out of his house..." Steve looked down at his shoes, uncomfortable and shy.
She laughed at my comment and jabbed Steve with her shoulder. He gave her a smile and tried to relax and enjoy the atmosphere.
A tiny little blonde saunters her way up to us. I internally groan, knowing what was about to happen.
"Hey handsome. Do you dance?" She places her hand on my chest.
I glance at Steve and (Y/N), they're used to this by now.
"Why yes darling I dance, but I am catching my breath. Why don't you take my friend for a dance instead?" I point towards Steve, who looks at me like I just gave him the plague.
"Oh..." The blond girl says as soon as she lays eyes on Steve. I hate when they do this. Everyone overlooks him, don't give him the time of day. They'll never know what an amazing man Steve could be, if they just gave him a chance.
"Oh. I'm sorry. He's already promised me a dance! Maybe later?" (Y/N) speaks up grabbing Steve's hand. Confusion clearly written on Steve's face.
"Oh yes! What a shame. Next time!" The blond quickly reacts and then looks back towards me. "Maybe if you're done taking a break, you can take me out instead?"
Dammit (Y/N). "Sure doll. Why not?" I grab the blonde's hand and start leading her to the dance floor. But I make sure to glance back at (Y/N) and Steve with an annoyed scowl.
