A/N: I'm so sorry I took so long for an update!! I had a lot going on personally, plus this story is so angst filled right now, that it has been hard to write... I'm dying to get to the happy stuff again, but it's taking longer than I originally expected. I'm hoping your still enjoying the story though!!

Bucky's POV

I couldn't sleep, and the moments I did nod off from pure exhaustion I startled awake. I couldn't fall asleep; I couldn't let Sarah out of my sight. Her soft breathing and the way she buried herself against me was the only thing keeping me tethered to reality. If I became untethered only god knows how I would behave.

The cycle continued until the sun poured in through the windows, the light eventually causing Sarah to stir in my arms. She snuggled up against me, trying to hide from the light, but eventually gave in and opened her eyes lazily. "Daddy?"

"Hey princess..."

She rubbed her eyes and snuggled in closer, as if not wanting to let me go. When she finally looked up at me I could see the grogginess fading in her eyes and a deep sadness return. She was about to speak when Tony's voice interrupted her.

"You want pancakes little lady? Morgan wants pancakes... we're thinking pancakes right Maguna?" A sleepy Morgan is rubbing her eyes on Tony's hip and nodding. She looks over to Sarah and gives her a little wave, a small smile coming to her lips.

Sarah waves back, and for a moment I can tell she's forgotten her sorrows at the prospect of a playdate. She looks back at me, some excitement in her eyes. "Can I 'ave pancakes with Morgan daddy?"

As I am nodding, Pepper comes up behind Tony. "Well then you girls better come with me to the kitchen then! Come on Sarah, Morgan. Let's let the daddies do grown up stuff while we girls have fun."

Sarah looked up at me, as if questioning if it was okay. "Go with Aunt Pepper and Morgan princess. Daddy will see you in a little bit."

"Pwomise?"

"I promise."

She quickly cuddled up next to me and gave me a huge hug before scrambling off the couch and running up to Pepper and Morgan, who grabbed Sarah's hand and led her towards the kitchen talking wonders about Pepper's pancakes.

Once they were out of view I turned to look at Tony, who was watching me with a look I couldn't quite place. "Come on Barnes..." He made a notion with his head and started walking in the direction towards the front door. I followed silently, feeling a bit lost without Sarah by my side. I felt cold, lifeless, and blank.

Once outside I saw everyone either sitting on patio furniture or leaned up against the railing. In their faces was an array of different emotions. Sam was leaning against the railing, tapping his foot almost impatiently. Wanda sat next to him on a patio chair, her hands on her knees and her eyes looking far away and dazed. Next to her sat Natasha, who sat still as stone with a similarly stoney expression. Steve was standing next to her, arms crossed body tense, but his eyes were rimmed in red, and had bags underneath them.

Tony took a seat and groaned as he did, his body still probably aching from the battle. "Now we're all here..." No one spoke. Every single one had their eyes casted on me as if waiting for me. I took a step forward towards a chair, the step felt heavy, as if I was walking towards my own demise. I don't know how eventually my hand held on to the chair for support, nor did I recognize my own voice when I spoke. "Tell me what happened to my wife and child. Tell me everything."

Natasha's POV

I watched him as Tony began to talk first, recounting their time in space. The battle, (Y/N) losing the baby, and losing the will to live. Steve then jumped in and recounted their rescue and arrival back home. I shuddered when Steve recounted the stories of her waking up to find out both Bucky and Sarah were gone. I had to close my eyes when he recounted her mental state, the sight of her floating in the dark lake haunting me again.
